ClearanceJobs is currently partnering with our customer, a technology company that crafts, deploys and operates innovative satellite communications products and services, to assist in hiring a BFT2 Technical Support Engineer on a full time, permanent basis. This position must be performed onsite in Carlsbad, CA. Due to government contract requirements an active Secret clearance is required.
This role provides customer, production, and engineering support for both government and commercial systems, including hubs, remote terminals, and COTS equipment. Support activities include a mix of remote and onsite assistance for the existing BFT2 network. Core responsibilities cover deployment, testing, documentation, training, operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting across the production network. The team collaborates effectively with internal and external personnel across diverse technical disciplines, including software, hardware, electrical, IP networking, configuration management, information assurance, and technical publications.
As a team member, your remote support duties focus on network operations. Tasks include initial system configuration, performance monitoring, trend analysis, and resolution of system issues. You will interface with customers and other teams via phone and email to resolve issues and answer questions. Support is provided 24/7, and all Service Engineers participate in an on-call rotation.
Standard onsite responsibilities include CONUS and OCONUS installations, testing, training, and maintenance at all assigned locations. This work spans hardware, networking, and RF component maintenance and repair; software testing and integration; and routine maintenance and configuration updates. This position supports both current and future L-band system customers within the Services organization.
Requirements in the following:
Proven experience using Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Ansible, Cisco
Demonstrated experience with Linux based servers
Proven ability to work with IP/Network problems at all layers of OSI model
Experience administering and troubleshooting Cisco Networks, Routers, Switches and Firewalls
Current Security+ certification
Current CCNA or higher certification (CCNP, CCIE, CISSP)
Bachelor's degree in related technical field or directly related experience
US government position. US Citizenship required
Active DoD Secret Clearance
Ability to travel up to 50% both CONUS and OCONUS
