Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and coordinates review efforts for verification and validation work for Structural related work efforts in the Naval Architect discipline.
- Review design review comments submitted by junior engineers and advise decision on considerations for high impact and critical design review decisions.
- Provide mentorship to junior naval architects related to the area of shipboard Structurers design calculations and analyses.
- Provide technical support and documentation for ship feasibility, concept, preliminary and contract design, integration, stability analysis, hydrodynamic and seakeeping properties.
- Evaluate systems and equipment, develop and analyze requirements, perform studies and documentation relating to hull form, stability, weights, structures, and design.
- Develop system documentation and ship specifications for surface assets and boats, perform structural analysis and design using ISO and class society standards.
- Conduct, witness, and document tests including stability tests, speed, power, maneuvering, and seakeeping trials.
- Review design review comments submitted by junior engineers and advise decision makers on considerations for high impact and critical design review decisions.
- Provide mentorship to junior naval architects related to the area of shipboard Structurers design calculations and analyses.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Ocean Engineering, Naval Architecture or related field
- 10+ years of documented experience with designing structural and strength components for shipboard use, experience with marine structural codes, and development and use of structural analysis calculations
- Active Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret level clearance
- U.S. Citizenship Required for the purposes of obtaining/holding a U.S. security clearance
