Position: Sr. Aircraft Electrical Design Engineer
Location: Newport News, VA
6 Month Contract-to-Hire
Secret Clearance Required
General Scope of Work
The Senior Aircraft Electrical Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and documenting electrical system upgrades and modifications for sustaining and modifying rotary-wing and turboprop aircraft.
Responsibilities
• Conduct comprehensive analyses and conceptual design activities for the aircraft’s avionics and electrical systems for both fix and rotary wing aircraft.
• Integrate and validate system solutions using the System Integration Laboratory (SIL).
• Produce layouts, drawings, and designs with AutoCAD, in accordance with engineering specifications to support civil (FAA) or military (DOW) airworthiness certifications.
• Participate in technical reviews of aircraft systems and refine designs (Redlines) and implementation plans to meet cost, schedule, and quality objectives.
• Collaborate proactively with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to support a coordinated and efficient development process.
Requirements
• Demonstrated ability to complete assignments independently while producing high-quality deliverables.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities, with proficiency in delivering technical presentations.
• Prior experience developing test procedures as well as performing test analyses.
• Wide-ranging engineering expertise spanning design, analysis, product qualification, acceptance testing, and technical documentation. (Example: experience with Supplemental Type Certs (STC).
• Comprehensive knowledge of engineering document control and review processes, configuration and data management/product lifecycle management (CDM/PLM), and quality management systems (QMS).
• Extensive experience designing electronic systems in compliance with military and civil aerospace standards, including MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-704, ISO-9001/AS9100, and applicable FAA regulations.
• Skilled in CAD software, including AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks.
Education and Experience
• Must have BSEE.
• 15-20 years of experience with modification, design, and repair engineering on fix and rotary-wing aircraft.
• Must have a current Active Security Clearance
• Must be a US citizen
• Must be able to pass drug test. (Non-DOT)
