Position Title: Computer Technician II
Duty Location: Operational Test Command, Ft. Hood, TX
Security Clearance (Required): Secret
Certifications (Required): Computing Environment, Security+ (or equivalent DOD Directive 8140.01 IAT II) or A+/Network+ (or equivalent DOD Directive 8140.01 IAT I)
• Required technical knowledge of installing, configuring, repairing, and maintaining software, hardware, configurations, and peripherals; isolating equipment/system/software malfunctions and restoring failed equipment to good working order; conducting operational checks and replacing defective parts and assemblies
• Required basic knowledge of networking concepts such as cable making/repair, IP address schema, and LAN implementation and configuration
• Qualifications to manage Active Directory, tech will be required to approve systems for reimage/ wipe and move to correct system active OU or system deleted OU (When selected for this function)
• Add new printers/remove unused printers to/from printer server
• Applying technical knowledge and training to solve routine and complex problems in the maintenance of digital computers, configuration, and peripheral components
• Performing Tier 1 and Tier 2 deskside incident resolution of workstations, printers, and peripheral devices
• Configure and deliver ITR requested on customer Change Orders (COs)
• Monitoring and responding to hardware and software problems utilizing a variety of hardware including printers and software testing tools and techniques
• Ensuring proper computer system setup/operation so that end users can accomplish business tasks
• Receiving, prioritizing, documenting, and actively resolving end user help requests
• Maintaining knowledge of diagnostic and help desk request tracking tools, as well as remote and in-person, hands-on help at the desktop level
• Under direct supervision, assisting with network hardware
• Maintaining current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned
• Participating in special projects as required
• Assisting with Asset Management and Inventory of IT assets
• Assisting with security vulnerability remediation
• Returning failed equipment to good working order and demonstrating the equipment to the user
• Working as a team member in the installation, configuration, repair, and maintenance of computer equipment, peripherals, and applications
• Performing repairs and conducting operational checks, and preventive maintenance service on computer systems, related systems, and office equipment
• Ensuring timely responses to reports of unexpected malfunctions or failures
• Documenting all task responses, labor and material usage data as required
• Working with System Administrators to maintain network resources
• Perform other duties as required, which may include:
Accomplishing assigned tasks in closely related fields
Responding to changes in work schedules and/or locations
Supporting other sections on the ITSS contract
Participating in formal, on-the-job, and cross-training
