POSITION: Senior Comptroller
LOCATION: Stafford, Virginia
STATUS: Part-time
CLEARANCE: Active Department of Defense (DoD) SECRET Clearance or ability to obtain one.
Position Description:
The Comptroller will help manage the day-to-day accounting, contracting, and financial operations of the company while ensuring compliance with government contracting regulations. This role will be a strategic adviser in the company, helping support the company, as it continues to grow. Flexibility in job responsibilities and learning will be attributes needed for candidates to be successful in this role. This role will be deeply involved in a very rapid-paced culture with high intensity requests at times to support ongoing activities, clients and team members. Candidates will need to have creativity and commitment.
The candidate we are seeking should be interested in working 20 hours per week in a remote/ hybrid environment. Ideally, the candidate selected will primarily work from home; however, he/she should also be able to work from the Company’s office in Stafford, VA on occasion (when requested).
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting & Finance
Oversee general ledger, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
Manage indirect rate structures, cost pools, and allocations to comply with FAR and CAS.
Support contract financial management: invoicing, revenue recognition, burn rate monitoring, and collections.
Prepare budgets, forecasts, cash flow analyses, and support company planning.
Maintain compliance with DCAA, external audit requirements, and tax obligations.
Implement and monitor internal financial controls.
Government Contracting Compliance
Ensure accounting and billing processes comply with FAR, DFARS, CAS, and other federal requirements.
Maintain documentation for Incurred Cost Submissions (ICS) and audit support.
Partner with program managers for financial performance monitoring, analysis and recommendations.
Leadership & Collaboration
Serve as key liaison between CEO, COO and operational staff.
Provide financial analysis, insights and recommendations to leadership.
Qualifications
Must be a U.S. citizen and possess active DoD Secret security clearance, or ability to obtain one.
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA strongly preferred.
8+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including 3+ years in supervisory roles.
Strong knowledge of and experience with GAAP and government contracting (FAR, DFARS).
Minimum of 5+ years experience with GovCon financial systems preferred.
Hands-on ability to perform transactional accounting tasks.
Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
Ability to prioritize competing priorities with similar schedules.
Ability to work in a rapidly changing small business environment, balancing individual team member, project team, client, and company requests.
