Overview
We are hiring a Virtual Platform Administrator (Systems Engineer) to support Cloud & Infrastructure Services for the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA). This fully remote position requires strong cloud engineering skills, virtualization knowledge, automation experience, and DoD IT hosting support.
TekSynap is a rapidly growing IT and mission-support organization delivering secure, scalable solutions across federal environments. This role supports high-visibility cloud and infrastructure operations for DLA.
Responsibilities
Provision, operate, install, configure, and maintain hardware/software infrastructure with a focus on cloud hosting technologies
Provide hands-on engineering support for planning, implementation, and operations of IT systems
Conduct research and development to enhance cloud, virtualization, and infrastructure solutions
Ensure compliance with organizational standards, DoD policies, and regulatory frameworks
Create and maintain system documentation, specifications, designs, and test plans
Support Windows and RHEL administration in cloud hosting environments
Manage enterprise databases (Oracle, SQL) and cloud-hosted applications
Implement automation for CI/CD, configuration management, and system administration using Python, Bash, PowerShell, Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Salt, HCL, GCP Deployment Manager
Diagnose complex performance issues (CPU, memory, I/O, networking)
Apply DoD cybersecurity compliance including STIGs, patching, auditing, and hardening
Support container solutions (Docker, OpenShift, LXC)
Deliver backup, disaster recovery, high-availability, and failover solutions in cloud environments
Conduct cloud capacity planning and FinOps analysis
Analyze complex problems and implement effective resolutions
Required Qualifications
Experience
Minimum 5 years professional Systems Engineering experience
3 years DoD IT hosting support (desired)
Clearance
Secret – IT-I (Tier 5/SSBI) Critical Sensitive
Certifications (required)
DoD 8570 IAT II (one of the following):
Security+ CE
CCNA
CySA+
GICSP
GSEC
SSCP
AND one Google Cloud Certification (one of the following):
Google Associate Cloud Engineer
Google Professional Cloud Architect
AND one Cloud Certification from AWS/Azure/Oracle/Red Hat (examples):
AWS Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional)
AWS Security – Specialty
