Duties
Help
  • Analyze and reconcile a variety of accounts and financial transactions within multiple systems.
  • Review, analyze and report on the weekly/monthly accounting reports.
  • Resolve issues of the records in the accounting system of record and feeder systems in accordance with applicable law, and policies
  • Document variances and obtain supporting documentation from end users, vendors, contracting officer representatives (COR), contracting officer (KO), and the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) of corrections and reconciliations for audit.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
  • THIS IS A FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT Level 2 Certified position. Incumbent of this position is required to comply with all Department of Defense requirements of this certification program within two years of employment.
  • This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. NOTE: This is a developmental position. Management is selecting this position at the GS-07 or GS-09 grade levels. If selected at the GS-07 grade level the incumbent maybe non-competitively be promoted to the target grade level GS-09.

Specialized Experience:
(GS-7) One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service which includes assist with monitoring and coordinating Finance and Accounting operations through Financial reporting Systems within the organization (such as General Fund Enterprise Business System (GFEBS)). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

(GS-9) One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes assist with advising senior leaders and other staff on the financial posture of the organization (i,e, budget, accounting, and other management-related systems and their interrelationships; recommending budget strategies designed to meet the resourcing and budget execution needs; monitoring and coordinating Finance and Accounting operations through Financial reporting Systems within the organization (such as General Fund Enterprise Business System (GFEBS)). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education:
(GS-7) One full year of graduate level education leading to such a degree or LL.B or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as: Business, Finance, Accounting.

(GS-9) Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business, Finance, Accounting.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Education

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
