Job Description
Position Overview:
The Systems Engineer works directly with clients to understand their operational challenges and align them with tailored product and system solutions. This role blends client-facing technical consultation, system engineering, and solution design, supporting the full lifecycle from concept through integration and validation. Responsibilities include requirements development, system architecture, evaluations, proofs of concept, proposal creation, and ongoing technical support.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Engagement & Solution Development-
Consult with clients to identify their needs, challenges, and operational requirements.
Match client needs to appropriate product and system solutions.
Prepare and deliver technical presentations highlighting product features, capabilities, and benefits.
Develop customized solutions by tailoring product offerings to meet unique client requirements.
Craft detailed proposals outlining technical solutions, pricing, and implementation plans.
Maintain long-term client relationships, providing post-sale support and addressing technical questions or system issues.
Evaluation, Testing & Technology Assessments-
Plan and conduct market surveys, lab evaluations, proofs of concept, and pilot programs for physical security technologies.
Assist in the development of system and functional requirements and allocate requirements across hardware, software, facility, and personnel components.
Participate in interface definition, system configuration updates, and coordination across teams throughout the lifecycle.
Systems Engineering & Architecture-
Generate alternative system concepts, physical architectures, and design solutions.
Participate in establishing and gaining approval for requirements, designs, interface definitions, test procedures, and documentation.
Define verification methods, evaluation criteria, and processes in structured test and verification plans.
Develop system design solutions aligned with system requirements and functional analysis.
Provide technical direction for engineering, integration, and testing of hardware/software components, including:
Requirements elicitation and analysis
Functional allocation
Systems requirements reviews
Concepts of operation (CONOPS) development
Interface standards development
End-to-end system flow analysis
Technical and non-technical assessments
Lifecycle Documentation & Analysis-
Develop operational scenarios and Concepts of Operation illustrating system interactions with users and environments.
Review and approve system engineering documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with requirements.
Conduct quantitative analyses related to non-functional performance attributes (e.g., reliability, maintainability, vulnerability, survivability).
Prepare time-dependent functional flow diagrams and timelines.
Integration, Configuration Management & Risk-
Establish formal processes for system integration and coordinate activities across multiple engineering teams.
Implement change control processes ensuring traceability, impact analysis, stakeholder alignment, and action closure.
Assess technical and programmatic risks, determining probability, impact, and mitigation strategies according to risk management protocols.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited institution.
5+ years of progressive experience in systems engineering or related technical fields.
Alternative Education/Experience Path:
Master’s degree with 3+ years of experience.
