Overview: ClearanceJobs is assisting our Aerospace industry client’s search for an experienced Project Manager to lead a critical military avionics development effort. The project involves a next-generation Audio Management System (AMS) incorporating advanced SoC technology, interfacing with radios, data links, and control heads.
Due to export program control regulations, United States Citizenship is required.
This is an on-site position located in Orange County, CA. After three months of 100% on-site work, a hybrid schedule can be accommodated. Compensation includes W-2 hourly pay and cafeteria benefit plan options.
Responsibilities:
● Lead all program execution phases, from planning through CDR and production transition
● Act as primary interface between engineering teams and customer stakeholders
● Oversee lifecycle execution per DO-178C, DO-254, and ARP4754A standards
● Drive adherence to phase gates, milestone delivery, and risk management
● Coordinate multi-disciplinary efforts across hardware, software, and systems
● Support DAL C (potential DAL B) compliance strategy and certification activities
Requirements:
● United States Citizenship
● 10+ years of experience managing defense/aerospace programs
● Demonstrated expertise in DO-178C and DO-254 compliant programs
● Familiarity with ARP4754A development lifecycle and systems thinking
● Hands-on experience with PDR/CDR and customer milestone reviews
● Ability to lead in a high-urgency, fast-paced environment with minimal onboarding
● Excellent communication, leadership, and risk mitigation skills
Preferred:
● Experience with SoC-based avionics designs
● Prior leadership of cross-functional hardware/software teams
● Familiarity with audio management, communications, or cockpit systems
● Current or Active Security Clearance with understanding that it may not be utilized in this position
