Job Summary

B&A is looking for a Software Engineer to join a contract with a federal government client in support of an important mission. In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, and deployment of high-quality software solutions. The ideal candidate will excel in collaborative, fast-paced environments, applying modern software development practices such as Agile, DevOps, and DevSecOps. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-impact projects where innovation, adaptability, and technical excellence are highly valued.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications in accordance with project requirements and best practices.
  • Apply Agile, DevOps, or DevSecOps methodologies to improve development workflows, CI/CD processes, and delivery timelines.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan, implement, and deploy software solutions.
  • Participate in code reviews, documentation, and knowledge-sharing activities to ensure quality and maintainability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and performance issues in a timely manner.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, tools, and software engineering practices to enhance team capabilities.

Education and Experience
  • Master's Degree (MS) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Information Systems.
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • 3+ years applying modern development methodologies, including Agile, DevOps, or DevSecOps, in professional or academic settings.
  • Agile Developer or Certified Scrum Developer certification preferred.

Required Skills
  • Strong proficiency in software development using modern programming languages and frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience with Agile, DevOps, or DevSecOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines.
  • Solid understanding of iterative development, version control systems, and collaborative workflows.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, debug, and optimize software for performance, reliability, and security.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills for collaboration in cross-functional teams.

Desired Skills
  • Agile Developer or Certified Scrum Developer certification.
  • Familiarity with security-focused development practices and DevSecOps principles.
  • Experience contributing to high-impact, mission-critical projects in fast-paced environments.
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies and software engineering trends to drive innovation.

Security Clearance
  • Active Secret Clearance

Certifications
  • One of the following DOD IAT-Level III Certifications: CASP+ CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), GCED, or GCIH.
