The Security Systems Engineer plays a critical role in designing, integrating, and supporting advanced physical security solutions for a wide range of clients. This position combines client-facing responsibilities with deep technical expertise, ensuring that complex security systems meet operational, functional, and performance requirements throughout their lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Client Engagement & Solution Development
Consult with clients to identify operational needs, challenges, and security gaps.
Match client requirements with appropriate product and technology solutions.
Prepare and deliver technical presentations showcasing features, capabilities, and value propositions.
Develop customized solutions by tailoring product offerings to client-specific requirements.
Craft detailed proposals outlining recommended solutions, pricing, implementation plans, and timelines.
Maintain long-term client relationships, providing post-sale support and addressing technical concerns.
Technical Evaluation & System Engineering
Conduct market surveys, lab evaluations, proof-of-concepts, demos, and pilot deployments for physical security technologies.
Assist in developing system-level and functional requirements and allocating them to hardware, software, facility, and personnel components.
Participate in interface definition, configuration management, and coordination across teams throughout the system lifecycle.
Generate alternative system concepts, architectures, and design solutions for client and internal engineering needs.
Support the establishment and approval of requirements, interface documents, designs, and test procedures.
Define verification methods, processes, and evaluation criteria to ensure systems and subsystems meet established requirements.
Systems Design, Integration & Analysis
Develop system design solutions that fulfill functional analyses and satisfy customer requirements.
Provide technical direction for the engineering, integration, and testing of complex hardware/software security systems.
Lead requirements elicitation, functional allocation, system architecture development, and ConOps (Concept of Operations) creation.
Develop operational scenarios describing interactions between users, systems, and the environment, covering operational, support, maintenance, and end-of-life considerations.
Review and approve systems engineering documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
Conduct quantitative analyses on non-functional performance areas, including reliability, maintainability, survivability, and vulnerability.
Coordinate system integration activities across multiple engineering teams, ensuring alignment of all interfaces.
Prepare timeline analysis diagrams illustrating flow and interaction of time-dependent functions.
Establish and oversee formal change management procedures, ensuring traceability, stakeholder buy-in, and consistent control of requirements.
Perform program risk assessments to determine probability, impact, and mitigation steps in accordance with approved risk management practices.
Key Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited institution.
Minimum 5+ years of progressive experience in systems engineering, security systems integration, or related technical fields.
Strong understanding of physical security technologies (e.g., IDS, ACS, CCTV, sensors, networked security systems).
Ability to translate complex technical requirements into clear, actionable engineering documentation.
Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Experience with requirements development, systems architecture, verification/validation, and configuration management.
Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
