Duties
As an AIRCRAFT PNEUDRAULIC SYSTEMS MECHANIC SUPERVISOR, WS-8268-09, you will plan and schedule specific work assignments on a daily or project-by-project basis within specified time requirements. Arrange for adequate personnel, materials and equipment to accomplish the work. Work Assign tasks to be performed. Explain prescribed methods and procedures; instructs subordinates on new procedures and provides assistance on problems. Reviews work in progress and on completion. Obtain approval from supervisor for changes in standard or prescribed procedures and changes in work operations. Suggest ways or methods to improve operations or reduce costs. Recommend individuals to fill vacancies or for promotion or reassignment. Assist in the establishment of performance standards and makes recommendations for performance appraisals. Counsel with employees on disciplinary issues and recommends disciplinary action. Attempt to resolve informal complaints and grievances, referring unresolved or more serious issues to supervisor. Other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: This position works on a 5/4/9 compressed work schedule that consists of a 5-day workweek, then a 4-day workweek (eight 9-hour days and one 8-hour day and an SDO, Scheduled Day Off) to complete the 80-hour pay period. Work schedule is subject to change based on mission requirements.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE : Must have experience or training which demonstrates your knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles; knowledge of troubleshooting procedures used to isolate malfunctions in aircraft pneudraulic systems; and ability to use technical manuals, equipment specifications, and test calibration procedures in performing the work.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, must have experience demonstrating the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments of lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establishing priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Stoops, bends, stretches and works in cramped, tiring, uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts equipment and parts weighing approximately 20 pounds and occasionally items weighing up to 50 pounds. Pushes heavy jacks and test stands.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside and outside, exposed to weather, toxic fumes, dirt, grease and hydraulic fluids. Exposed to danger of injury by fluids subject to high pressure; falling from aircraft, work stands, or slips on oily floors; falling object; cuts, shocks, strains, or skin and eye irritations; and high intensity and higher frequency sound waves.

- KANSAS NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED.
- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
- Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period within one year of appointment
- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
