Job Description
The Engineering Development (Eng Dev) Manager for US Defense Engineering oversees the acquisition, training, development, and retention of over 6,000 engineers to meet the critical needs of our $5B business.
In this role you would be required to develop strategies, in close collaboration with engineering departments and Human Resources, to acquire and retain ES engineering talent, and to facilitate the technical, professional, and personal development of ES engineers. This role will report to the Engineering Operations and Capability (EOC) Deputy Director, and will be accountable for delivering on strategic objectives aligned to business goals, including financial targets.
Qualified candidates for this role have a solid understanding of engineering principles and a strategic mindset in order to develop and maintain fundamental, critical and emerging knowledge offerings to ensure talent readiness. In this role you will also guide a skilled team of experts who provide programs, tools, resources, and networks to support employees' technical abilities, leadership skills, career planning, and personal effectiveness.

Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely.

Full-Time Salary Range: $150370 - $255630
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Developing the strategic vision, goals and objectives for Engineering Development, in alignment with Engineering and Company strategic goals.
- Partnering with Human Resources/Talent Acquisition to advance our ability to attract, hire, retain, and develop diverse, equitable, and inclusive engineers and engineering leaders across our business portfolio.
- Providing programs, tools, resources, and networks to support employees' technical abilities, leadership skills, career planning, and personal effectiveness - while encouraging them to invest in the development of others.
- Maintaining the relevance of our online training development portals and Functional Training Plan Requirements across Engineering.
- Develop and maintain strategies for effective engagement with Engineering People Leaders including leading the People Leader Forums and the PEM Bootcamps.
- Building strong relationships with universities and organizations to develop technical curriculum and STEM pipelines aligned with the needs from our disciplines and educational and training goals.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent with 12+ years of related experience.
- Experience managing a budget and applying project management principles.
- Proven ability to oversee a diverse organization, formulate a collective vision and implement action plans to achieve goals.
- Positive attitude, inclusive mindset, a passion for teaching, mentoring, coaching, and developing people.
- Excellent communication and public speaking skills with an ability and willingness to comfortably speak in front of large audiences.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Knowledge and understanding of modern employee training and development methodologies and tools, with experience delivering both in-person and virtual approaches.
- Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including senior leaders, employees, and academic and community partners.
- Experience with Model-Based Engineering, Digital Engineering and Generative AI tools.
