IT Technical Writer

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a IT Technical Writer to join a leading global technology and professional services provider located in Newington, VA for a fully onsite role. The IT Technical Writer will ensure today is secure and tomorrow is more connected by developing and maintaining clear, accurate, and mission-aligned documentation that enhances operational readiness and supports the unit's evolving technical landscape.

Responsibilities of the IT Technical Writer:

• Collaborate closely with engineers, analysts, and military personnel to capture and translate complex technical processes into clear, mission-ready documentation.
• Identify gaps in existing documentation and resolve communication challenges that impact operational efficiency.
• Develop and maintain user manuals, system guides, and SOPs that directly support mission-critical systems and enhance readiness across the unit.
• Operate within a dynamic, fast-paced environment where adaptability and precision are key, working alongside both civilian and military stakeholders to ensure alignment with Army standards.

Qualifications for the IT Technical Writer:

• Minimum of 5 years of related experience in technical writing, preferably within IT, cybersecurity, or defense-related environments.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and Adobe Acrobat for document creation, editing, and diagramming
• At least 3-5 years using Visio for illustrations, flow charts, and a variety of other items. Ability to do mechanical drawings and floorplans.
• Experience with SharePoint and other content management systems
• Familiarity with DoD and Army documentation standards, including MIL-STD and style guides
• Active TS/SCI clearance

Compensation for the IT Technical Writer:

• Salary Range: $105,000 - $115,000 *depending on experience*
