Duties
As a AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR (TITLE 32), WS-8801-14, you will provide overall direction and coordination of subordinate work activities within one of three major work functions (Aircraft Generation Division, and the Equipment Maintenance and the Component Repair Branches of the Aircraft Maintenance Division.

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of considerations for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), will be in the following manner and sequence,
Military Grades: Enlisted - Minimum Rank E8 - Maximum Rank E9
GENERAL EXPERIENCE : MUST possess experience or training installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting parts, subassemblies and components, and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : WS-14 Level MUST possess, in addition to the journeyman level knowledge, experience demonstrating the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments of lower grade personnel: experience which required the review of work requirements and establishing priorities to meet deadlines: experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function: experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations.
SPECIALIZED SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE : MUST possess specialized supervisory experience which includes experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. - Plan the overall allocation of personnel, funding and equipment resources to the organizational segments supervised to accomplish work operations which, because of their scope, volume, complexity, operational tempo, and total force integration must be planned on a annual or longer basis.
- Plan work on an annual or multi year basis, to include: aircraft and aircraft system modifications (Time Change Technical Orders),maintenance equipment and facilities update and modernization, deployment and mobility planning, human resources and financial forecasting, recurring Air Force mandated inspection requirements, mission and weapons systems changes, contingency planning relating to carrying out the military mission of the wing, and the development of policies and procedures in the accomplishment of the work.
- Analyze work plans developed by subordinate supervisors for accomplishment of assigned directives.
- Determine status of work accomplished in relation to future demands, including unanticipated or emergency requirements mandating reallocation of resources as required.
- Provide higher level management and/or leadership information on status of work projects, budget estimates, changes in equipment, facilities, techniques etc. for mission planning purposes.
- Evaluate potential impact of improved technologies on existing programs and practices and recommend proposed changes to cognizant authority.
- Function as an integral member of unit's planning process, serving as the responsible technical resource for a maintenance division.
- Coordinate and direct the work of units supervised.
- Assign and explain work requirements to subordinate supervisors and sets deadlines.
- Recommend promotion or reassignment of subordinate supervisors and review personnel actions prepared by them.
Conditions of employment
- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the Illinois National Guard and in the military grade listed in the announcement.
