In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Basic Requirement for a Statistician:
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) that included 15 semester hours in statistics (or in mathematics and statistics, provided at least 6 semester hours were in statistics), and 9 additional semester hours in one or more of the following: physical or biological sciences, medicine, education, or engineering; or in the social sciences including demography, history, economics, social welfare, geography, international relations, social or cultural anthropology, health sociology, political science, public administration, psychology, etc.

B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. The experience should have included a full range of professional statistical work such as (a) sampling, (b) collecting, computing, and analyzing statistical data, and (c) applying statistical techniques such as measurement of central tendency, dispersion, skewness, sampling error, simple and multiple correlation, analysis of variance, and tests of significance.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes collecting, verifying and adjusting data from diverse sources, evaluating the effectiveness of research, data, or metrics addressing family advocacy programs, analyzing data, research, metrics, or trends to develop changes to policy and strategies, recommending solutions based on the analysis of data, research, metrics or trends of family advocacy programs, leading the review of recurring metric requirements and reports to leadership, and drafting reports to include results of research regarding prevention of and response to child abuse and neglect in military families. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-14).

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. - Lead efforts of the research and data cell in the planning, direction, analysis, and evaluation of the effectiveness of research, data and program operations.
- Serve as the principal data, research, and functional and technical analyst for Office of Military Family Readiness Policy.
- Responsible for the management of data systems and requirements, research, and program evaluation.
- Analyze and evaluate the capabilities, effectiveness, feasibility, and costs of Family Advocacy Programs as part of the DoD Family Advocacy Program Oversight Framework.
- Identify deficiencies in existing data, policies and programs, and justifies, defends, and negotiates changes.
