Position Summary

We have an exciting new opportunity providing Advisory and Assistance Services (A&AS) supporting the US Space Force mission to defend National Security Interests in Space as a BMC3I Systems Engineer providing Engineering Support as a member of the Requirements and Engineering staff (S5) for the many program offices in Space Systems Command (SSC), System Delta 85 (SYD 85).
SYD 85 is the U.S. Space Force organization responsible for developing and delivering resilient space capabilities supporting Battle Management, Command, Control, Communication, and Space Intelligence (BMC3I). SYD 85 synchronizes acquisition efforts for critical space system capabilities and works together with Combat Forces Command (CFC) Mission Deltas to improve mission readiness.
The new SYD 85 contains three System Program Directors (SPDs), formerly known as Senior Materiel Leaders, corresponding to Battlespace Awareness, Battle Management, and Space Access & Networked Services. In addition to the SPDs, there is a direct report System Program Manager (SPM), formerly known as Materiel Leader, supporting Space Intelligence efforts within SSC's BMC3I portfolio. The SPDs and SPMs are focused on developing and fielding sensors, satellite control antennas, data systems, and software capabilities to counter adversary actions and threats in and through the space domain.
Odyssey Systems provides support to the Government in five areas: Product Support, Sustainment Engineering & Sustainment Management, Technical Order Management, Technical User Interface, and System Design, Engineering, and Integration. These tasks are executed laterally with USSF SSC/SZG depot and development contractors and with BMC3I stakeholders.
This is a full-time position at 2424 Garden of the Gods Road with occasional work at Peterson SFB and Schriever SFB in Colorado Springs, CO and the opportunity to telework 1 to 2 days per week at the discretion of the Government.
Responsibilities
An A&AS contractor is a knowledgeable and trusted advisor to the Government Program Office. As a BMC3I Systems Engineer you will perform engineering analysis, planning, interface design, and provide engineering support for programs in SYD 85. The ideal candidate will be an engineer who can rapidly become educated on a bespoke issue on unique systems, evaluate the cost/benefit of many potential technical solutions, and make recommendations to the Delta or the PEO for how to proceed. You will also create plans for future development and integration of SYD 85 systems. Duties include, but are not limited to:

Clearance: DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance, amenable to polygraph
Education: Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Engineering Management, Information Technology, or a technical space related discipline
Years of Experience: 8 years of relevant experience with 4 years in a Systems Engineering, Test Engineering, or technical space analysis role in a Program Office, operational technical staff, or Sustainment organization supporting similar Department of Defense or Intelligence Community Space Surveillance systems OR,

- Draft, review, and provide input during the development of overarching system requirements and design documentation to include technical requirements documents (TRD); capability description documents (CDD); capability production documents (CPD); and interface control documents (ICDs)
- Provide proposal analysis support services that compare and quantify proposed systems, components, and approaches for technical feasibility, compatibility, and cost-effectiveness
- Identify and track development risks in support of Government activities
- Develop technology insertion and risk reduction strategies, studies, and recommendations to mitigate identified risks
- Manage, analyze, and trace functional and non-functional system requirements, and architecture components
- Recommend and implement improvements to systems engineering processes to enhance mission effectiveness
- Review and ensure all engineering-related documents (SEP, RMP, CMP, LCMP, PPP etc.) are accurate and complete
- Participate in trade studies to support the selection of preferred design solutions, commercial hardware or software components, and preferred course of action alternatives in project development/system delivery
- Review the feasibility of new and existing project requirements for alignment with program goals
- Support integration of system-level solutions within Agile, iterative, and hybrid acquisition frameworks
- Participate in the development of system requirements and system architecture products (MBSE)
- Provide technical evaluation of contractor proposals
- Provide technical support services, including reviews, studies, audits, evaluations and analyses, scientific and procedural guidance, documentation, technical analysis, and support of associated engineering IPTs
- Support development of system integration plans, procedures, and scenarios
- Provide relevant input to acquisition planning activities, upgrades and modifications, and studies and interface with stakeholders, contractor personnel, and product integrators
- Develop and maintain relationships with DoD, Air Force, Space Force, and Intelligence Community stakeholders throughout the BMC3I enterprise
- Provide systems, electrical, and/or mechanical engineering support for new Space Force systems
- Travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations at the request of the Government
- Other duties as required/requested by the Government within the constraints of the S3 contract

- Effective communication skills (both written and verbal) with internal and external clients
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience:
- Prior work with DoD software and hardware Agile, waterfall, and hybrid development efforts
- Prior work with Space Domain Awareness sensors, command and control systems, and networks
- Prior work with Space Operations
- Prior work with accreditation and operation of DoD secure systems and networks, including the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process
- Prior work as a Program or Project Manager in a DoD, MDA, or IC Acquisition organization
- DoD Acquisition, Logistics, or Sustainment experience supporting similar requirements in DoD, MDA, IC, FFRDC, or DoD/DoE Laboratory organizations
- Familiarity and proven work experience with DoD Acquisition Program Management, including DoD Adaptive Acquisition Framework (5000 series) processes and requirements
- Experience developing solicitation documents (RFI, RFP, PWS, SOW) and evaluating proposals
- Prior work as an A&AS contractor in a DoD, MDA, or IC Acquisition organization
Other Qualifications:
- DoD Acquisition, Logistics, or Sustainment experience supporting similar requirements in DoD, MDA, IC, FFRDC, or DoD/DoE Laboratory organizations
- Familiarity and proven work experience with DoD Acquisition Program Management, including DoD Adaptive Acquisition Framework (5000 series) processes and requirements
