Position Summary

Odyssey Systems has an exciting new opportunity providing Advisory and Assistance Services (A&AS) supporting the US Space Force mission to defend National Security Interests in Space as a Space Intel Cybersecurity Systems Engineer in the Battlespace Intelligence Branch of System Delta 85 (SSC SYD 85/BI).

SYD 85 is the U.S. Space Force organization responsible for developing and delivering resilient space capabilities supporting Battle Management, Command, Control, Communication, and Space Intelligence (BMC3I). SYD 85 synchronizes acquisition efforts for critical space system capabilities and works together with Combat Forces Command (CFC) Mission Deltas to improve mission readiness.

SYD 85's missions are foundational to Protecting and Defending US Space Systems that provide space-based Intelligence, Early Warning, Communications and Global Positioning services that sustain our way of life, support our national economy and act as force multipliers in times of conflict. You will support SSC's Battlespace Management Command, Control, Communications and Space Intelligence portfolio, ensuring mission assurance and cybersecurity compliance for systems that enable national security space and intelligence operations. Work performed has a significant impact on SSC's ability to protect classified systems, both in development and in operation, to include maintaining operational readiness of ISR-related capabilities within the Space Force and greater space enterprise.

Odyssey Systems provides support to the Government in five areas: Product Support, Sustainment Engineering & Sustainment Management, Technical Order Management, Technical User Interface, and System Design, Engineering, and Integration. These tasks are executed laterally with USSF SSC/SZG depot and development contractors and with SDA stakeholders.

This is a full-time position at 2424 Garden of the Gods Road in Colorado Springs, CO with an opportunity to telework 1 to 2 days per week at the discretion of the Government.

Responsibilities

An A&AS contractor is a knowledgeable and trusted advisor to the Government Program Office. As a Space Intel Cybersecurity Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for safeguarding the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) and other mission systems managed by Space Systems Command (SSC). You will provide authoritative technical expertise across system lifecycles-from concept through sustainment-ensuring compliance with DoD, USSF, and Intelligence Community (IC) cybersecurity policies and frameworks. Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Leads the development, integration, and sustainment of cybersecurity architectures for classified SSC ISR mission systems, to include integrated and inherited architectures and standards from the IC
  • Implements and validates RMF controls and CNSSI 1253 requirements across ground, space, and network components
  • Advises system program offices and contractors on cybersecurity design decisions and risk acceptance criteria
  • Conducts risk analyses, vulnerability assessments, and control evaluations for systems supporting national security missions
  • Prepares SSPs, POA&Ms, and authorization documentation under DoDI 8510.01 (RMF) and NIST SP 800-53
  • Coordinates on planning for incident response and defensive cyber operations with mission partners to develop, maintain, and exercise the triaging, investigating, and remediating of cybersecurity incidents on ISR programs
  • Implements continuous monitoring, system patching, and configuration management aligned with DISA STIGs
  • Interprets and tailors DoD, USSF, and Intelligence Community cybersecurity policies for SSC programs
  • Advises leadership on compliance posture, program-level cyber risk trends, and mission assurance impacts
  • Collaborates with engineers, developers, and program managers to embed cybersecurity in acquisition and sustainment activities
  • Occasional travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations upon Government direction
  • Other duties as required/requested by the Government and within scope of the S3 contract


Qualifications

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen

Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Clearance: DoD TS/SCI clearance, agreeable to polygraph
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Years of Experience: 5 years Department of Defense (DoD), Missile Defense Agency (MDA), or Intelligence Community (IC) experience supporting cyber ‑ intelligence, network operations, or information ‑ system security
  • Other Qualifications: 2 years of experience with two or more of the following:
    • Managing RMF accreditation and system authorization activities
    • Conducting security assessments and implementing technical mitigations
    • Advising program offices on cybersecurity compliance and acquisition strategies
    • Coordinating with joint and interagency cybersecurity organizations
  • Interpersonal Skills : Exceptional professionalism and proven experience collaborating with multiple offices, agencies, and organizations; proven ability to work collaboratively and effectively in fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications
  • Clearance: DoD TS/SCI clearance with current polygraph
  • Education: Master's degree or higher in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Years of Experience: 8 years Department of Defense (DoD), Missile Defense Agency (MDA), or Intelligence Community (IC) experience supporting cyber ‑ intelligence, network operations, or information ‑ system security
  • Other Qualifications:
    • Experience with joint intelligence systems and architectures
    • Familiarity with Government and FFRDC risk frameworks, including MITRE's ATT&CK framework

Additional Information:

Location: Work is performed at 2424 Garden of the Gods, Colorado Springs, CO with work and meetings intermittently performed at Peterson SFB or Schiever SFB

Travel: Up to 10% to CONUS and OCONUS locations upon Government direction

Hybrid: Opportunity to telework up to 1-2 days per week at the discretion of the Government
