Boeing Defense, Space, & Security (BDS) is seeking a motivated and talented Survivability Systems Engineer/Scientist (Associate or Experienced) to join the team located in El Segundo, CA. The Experienced Survivability Systems Engineer/Scientist supports multidisciplinary survivability tasks through all satellite program phases.
The Survivability group is a multidisciplinary department that evaluates vehicles across various Space Environmental disciplines, including contamination, micrometeoroids, single event effects, radiation, electromagnetic compatibility, electrostatic discharge, and the testing and qualification of new materials. As a member of the Survivability team, the candidate will have the opportunity to employ an interdisciplinary and collaborative approach to support the analysis, test and verification of our products.
Position Responsibilities:
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

- Interface effectively with all technical disciplines in a team environment to trade factors such as survivability, cost, weight and technical risk in arriving at the final design
- Conduct and ensure that unit and system-level designs adequately address survivability requirements, including radiation-related effects such as total dose (including ELDRS and dose rate effects), displacement damage, single event effects, internal charging
- Support testing at the piece part, slice, unit, and vehicle levels to support design and verify compliance to survivability-related requirements

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, material science, chemistry, physics, mathematics
- Associate (Level 2): 2+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience with spacecraft design, analysis, fabrication and test
- Experience with space environmental effects
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time (approximately once a month) in support of test campaigns
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Mid-Level (Level 3): 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Have or have held an active U.S. Security Clearance in the past 24 months
- Experience with survivability related subjects such as space environments, radiation effects, single event effects, device physics or multi-physics computer simulation
- Experience in analysis tools (i.e., Creo parametric, AutoCAD, Thermal Desktop, PSpice, MATLAB, MATHCAD, ANSYS, COMSOL, Mentor Graphics electrical tools, Saber, Zuken, E3, or Xilinx Vivad)
