What You'll Be Doing:
- Assigns work to employees supervised .
- Trains subordinates in proper work methods, use of new equipment and safe practices .
- Ensures proper quantity of work and inspects work for quality .
- Enforces safety, fire and other regulations and maintains good housekeeping practices .
- Assists subordinates in difficult and complicated operations .
- Keeps Assistant Maintenance Manager informed of status of work production .
- Maintains records of individual's time, man hours expended on job orders, accidents and injuries and causes of these, work progress and similar information and prepares related reports .
- Performs various personnel functions, such as making performance ratings, recommendations concerning disciplinary or commendatory actions, promotions, demotions, transfers and separations .
- Require adherence to all corporate core values, policies, and procedures in the execution of all responsibilities.
- Ensure discipline is consistent and administered in accordance with company policies.
- Shall handle weights up to 100 pounds with an average of 5 0 pounds up to distances of 200 feet .
- Work phase is normally moderate with short periods of high activity during power outages, severe weather, or ship movement .
- Work requires climbing vertical and inclined ladders and brief periods of strained positions, such as kneeling, stooping and maneuvering in close quarters.
- Shall supervise assigned Machinist / Mechanic, Machinist/ Mechanic Helpers as well as other trades assigned to your workgroup .
What You'll Need to Succeed:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Five (5) years of experience related to the duties he or she will perform .
- Three (3) years supervisory experience. Shall have sufficient k nowledge and skills to lead, direct and instruct Machinist/Mechanics .
- Shall know preservation equipment and possess the ability to repair such equipment.
- Shall be able to evaluate welding methods used and identify proper penetration and inspect for porosity .
- Must have a valid driver's license and qualify to operate government/company vehicles in accordance with the Corporate Fleet Vehicle Safety Manual.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5 -years of relevant ship experience or equivalent experience in the Navy or Maritime environment in a supervisory capacity .
- Knowledge of small craft (boat) operations and maintenance.
- CDL Class "A" or "B"
