Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for a Lead Quality Engineer to join our team in Hazelwood, MO.

This role will be the Receiving Inspection Team Lead at Davidson in St. Louis; responsible for inspections, FAEEs, receipts, griefs, emergent/off hour support of critical receipts.

This position requires a Bachelor's degree in one of the following relevant fields of study:
  • Engineering
  • Computer Science
  • Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology)
  • Mathematics
  • Physics
  • Chemistry


Position Responsibilities:
  • Perform comprehensive receiving inspections, including:
    • Machine parts, first article engineering acceptance, sheet metal, composite, assembly, counterfeit electronic parts, electrostatic discharge, pyrotechnic parts, aircraft tire and wheel, critical parts tracking system inspections, MRB processing, and authorization to ship (ATS).
  • Conduct shipping inspections and provide Certificate of Conformance (CoC) for commercial tubes and parts.
  • Lead the receiving inspection department, including:
    • Requesting and updating departmental overtime.
    • Preparing and issuing capital budget requests and obtaining non-capital items.
  • Train inspectors on various inspection processes and ensure they have the necessary system access.
  • Interface with Material Review Board (MRB) to issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and provide input on MRB issues and procedures.
  • Develop and implement inspection plans, including ARIOS inspections and production shut down parts.
  • Assist in resolving issues related to damaged or suspect parts and coordinate with supplier quality representatives.
  • Serve as the focal point for receiving inspection audits, government source inspections (GSI), and tooling/property in storage compliance.
  • Participate in site corrective actions and provide key performance indicators related to receiver backlog and aging metrics.


Subject Matter Expert (SME) Responsibilities:
  • Act as a Precision Measurement SME, utilizing blueprints, graphic models, and precision measurement tools.
  • Serve as a Receiving Inspection SME, coordinating with purchasing, engineering, production, and materials management.
  • Act as a Material Review SME, leading corrective action teams for DCMA MRB CARs.
  • Serve as a Tooling Quality SME, participating in Boeing Enterprise Tooling Improvement Teams and setting up tooling quality operations internationally.


This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field
  • 14+ years of experience in quality engineering, receiving inspection.
  • 10+ years of experience with root cause corrective action (RCCA) and failure analysis.
  • 10+ years of experience with quality inspection and auditing processes.
  • 10+ years of experience working with AS9100 or similar Quality Management System (QMS) standards.
  • 10+ years of experience reading and understanding engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications.
  • 10+ years of aerospace industry experience


Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • 20+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 15+ years of Aerospace industry experience.
  • 15+ years of experience leading key process, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong communication skills with experience interfacing and presenting to senior and executive leadership.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to quality and inspection processes.

Summary pay range: USD: $146,200 - $197,800
