Duties
Help

• Oversee staff planning to deliver efficient, comprehensive, and cost-effective patient care.
• Evaluate patient behavior, responses, treatment plans in consultation with the healthcare team.
• Assist patients with navigating healthcare systems.
• Analyze health care plans.
• Coordinate with appropriate parties including command and other medical teams within the guidance provided by DHA.

• You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.

• This position is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to sign a statement consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
• Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
• All Health Care Providers must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) training and certification that is sponsored or endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA).
• A pre-placement medical examination is required.
• This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Behavioral Health Case Manager:

Education: Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education(external link) at the time the degree was obtained.

Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) developing cost-effective healthcare protocols, 2) performing evaluations on health care plans and resources, 3) and facilitating optimal patient outcomes by aligning treatment plans with best practices. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Education
