Baer is looking for Forecross Mainframe Consultant for a 6+ month Federal project located in Lynchburg, VA.
Title: Forecross Mainframe Consultant

Description:
- Serve as the project's primary technical expert for mainframe, COBOL, IDMS/ADSO, and Forecross tooling.
- Analyze, debug, and interpret complex legacy COBOL programs and IDMS database structures.
- Validate, refine, and troubleshoot automated conversion outputs for Windows Server/MS SQL environments.
- Resolve complex migration issues that require deep analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Collaborate with modernization teams to ensure accurate translation of business logic and system functionality.
- Provide guidance, documentation, and knowledge transfer to project teams and stakeholders.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in a mainframe z/OS environment.
- Expert-level proficiency in COBOL development, debugging, and analysis.
- Strong knowledge of JCL.
- Practical experience with Broadcom IDMS (schema, DML) and ADSO for screen development.
- Direct experience with automated COBOL conversion tools (Forecross highly preferred; Micro Focus, TSRI, Blu Age also valuable).
- Familiarity with Windows Server and MS SQL/T-SQL for validating conversion outputs.
- Proficiency with mainframe debugging and analysis tools (e.g., InterTest).
- Hands-on experience with the Forecross automated COBOL migration tool.
- Certification in Broadcom IDMS/ADSO.
- Strong proficiency in Windows Server and MS SQL (T-SQL).
