Overview
Akumen, Inc. seeks a dynamic, self-motivated individual with experience supporting federal customer as a Senior Systems Engineer. Akumen supports key Federal Government clients and we are looking for someone to support our client within the Department of State. The Senior Citrix Engineer is expected to fill a dynamic role involving both consulting directly with clients to identify and architect solutions to client challenges and also serving as an engineer to test and implement viable solutions for Citrix and other various applications.
This position is located in Springfield, VA, with possible travel to Washington, D.C. and other locations. This is a client-facing position, so strong communication, tact, and business acumen are essential. You should be skilled at navigating the challenges of working with a dynamic and ever-changing landscape that comes with supporting a key federal agency.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Systems Engineer responsible for the design, implementation, optimization, and support of the client’s Citrix environments, including Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, Citrix Cloud, NetScaler ADC, and supporting infrastructure. In addition, you will provide systems administration, develop system architecture, and aid in major enhancements to existing technology. You will provide your technical expertise to address problems of systems integration, compatibility, and multiple platforms and will be responsible for project and task completion. As part of the scope of work you may perform feasibility analysis on potential future projects to leadership.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Providing engineering and administrative support for Citrix Infrastructure and Citrix applications, as well as for VMWare, Windows Server OS, Server Hardware, etc.
• On-going operations and maintenance, and system monitoring support of existing systems. Designing and developing initial prototypes/proofs of concept and validating them for technical design and performance.
• Participate in defining robust architectures for new systems, leveraging and enhancing existing building blocks or creating new reusable components.
• Being responsive and decisive on adjusting product architecture as customer requirements, market conditions, and technology evolve.
• Identifying and articulating new technology, programming, design methodology, and best practices.
• Communicating effectively with customers and peers to ensure that technical issues are addressed in a timely manner.
• Aiding in the development and maintenance of technical documentation.
Qualifications
• At least eight (8) years of overall systems engineering experience, including:
• At least five (5) years of Citrix XenApp/ XenDesktop experience
• At least three (3) years designing, administering and supporting with the following technologies: VMware vSphere ESXi, vCenter, Active Directory Domains, Windows Server 2019/2022, Microsoft Clusters, NetScaler, Exchange 2019, Azure Virtual Desktop, DNS, DHCP, PowerShell, and Networking
• Experience managing a highly virtualized environment and must have experience managing backup and recovery products.
• An understanding of installation, testing methodologies and troubleshooting techniques
• Strong organization skills, including the ability to handle multiple ongoing projects
• Excellent written and verbal communications, particularly with a customer focus.
• Excellent customer-facing skills and real-world experience providing System Administration/Engineering for federal clients.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Desired skills may also include managing M365 on virtual desktops and working knowledge of other virtual desktop solutions to help advise the government on future modernization goals
• Citrix Certified Professional – Virtualization (CCP – V)
• Azure Administrator
• Azure Developer
• NetScaler Experience
• MCSE/MCITP EA
• ITIL v4
• Bachelor's Degree
