Aircraft Mechanic 2

Amentum is hiring a qualified Aircraft Mechanic Il in support of Kadena Air Base, 18th EMS.
Aircraft Mechanics Il must have a combination of experience to repair engines, sheet metal, and structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, required to meet the assigned missions. Additionally provides input to Maintenance Engineering Changes (MEC), Estimated Cost of Damage preparation (ECOD) and assist in the recommendation of changes to (MWO).
This mechanic maintains, repairs and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty, maintains and repairs aircraft components including it not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components, applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies required expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation, and applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technic documentation such as blueprints or manufactures' manuals. The incumbent receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks, and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records. May require specialization in sheet-metal, electric work, avionics or other aircraft systems related disciplines.

PHYSICAL/WORKING ENVIROMENT:
Requires shift work and a diversity of working conditions that may range from standard shop type environment where there may be no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject individuals to severe changes in temperature, direct sunlight, wind, rain, etc. May be required to work where high noise hazards prevail. Will be required to wear protective clothing and other safety equipment during periods of extreme hot and cold temperatures. Exposure to high intensity noise levels, extreme changes in temperature, materials identified on the Material Safety Data Sheets, working on or around aircraft and machinery. Aircraft flightline, hangars, and maintenance shops. Able to physically operate aircraft ground servicing equipment including vehicles, tugs, tractors, and high-pressure soap and water systems.

  • Minimum Requirements:
  • Must have or be able to acquire an Active Secret US Government Clearance. (Note: US Citizenship is required to maintain a Secret Clearance.)
  • Must be able to meet SOFA requirements outlined in USFJI 64-100 regarding citizenship.
  • May be required to complete a SF-85/86 in EQIP as required to maintain possession of a CAC card. Unfavorable background check may result in termination if determination is made you are not eligible for a CAC card.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
  • Must be able to meet physical requirements associated with and/or pass any medical examination requirements related to performing daily assigned tasks.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Must possess 3 years of Aviation maintenance experience.
  • Must be computer literate; the ability to operate and use a computer to enter work details, pass downs, measurements, and various other inputs is required.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts.
  • Must have knowledge of the scope and limitation of various categories of maintenance and their application to the contract unit.
  • Must be able to prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects.
  • Must know theory and principles of engine operations; accessories and components; pneudraulic; and mechanical principles.
  • Must be able to read, interpret and use manufacturer's maintenance manuals, service bulletins, blueprints, schematic diagrams, data tables and other specifications to determine feasibility and method to repair or replace malfunctioning or damaged components.
  • Must be able to work all assigned shifts & schedules.
  • Must be able to operate motorized heavy high reach lift equipment.
  • Must have a US Passport.
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English.
