Position is for an aerospace/defense client. United States citizenship and the ability to obtain & maintain a DoD Secret security clearance are required. Previous aerospace/defense experience is strongly preferred.

Aerospace/Defense client is looking for a Mechanical Engineer that researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.
Responsibilities:
• The selected candidate will work in a team environment within the Vehicle Engineering IPT and his/her roles and responsibilities include:
• Mechanical design for electronics packaging, enclosures, control panels, junction boxes. Equipment installation design. Design sheet metal, machined, thermoformed, and 3D printed parts. Supplier equipment interface control review and source control drawings. Mechanical design support and integration of electrical PCB/CCAs, cables, and components. Design using AS50881, MIL-HDBK-454, MIL-STD-1472, MIL-C-81774, and MIL-P-7788.
• Collaborate with pilots, human factors engineers, EMC/EMI/EE, Avionics Integration, suppliers, electrical engineering, power systems engineering, stress analysts, thermal analysts, manufacturing engineering, and more!
• You will be a member of a multi-disciplined team in the Vehicle Engineering Department.
• You will be working with a team of engineers coordinating with multiple disciplines to determine solutions to problems quickly and efficiently.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelors Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) with 4-5 years of experience in electrical box design/installation on military and/or commercial aircraft, OR
• Masters Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) with 2 years of experience in electrical box design/installation on military and/or commercial aircraft.
• This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret or Top-Secret Clearance as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business needs. But it is not required to start.
• Self-starter who can work with minimal direction.
• Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, MS-Project, Visio).
• Proficiency in technical communication, both written and verbal, is crucial.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work with a team are often necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
• STEM Degree (Science, Technical, Engineering or Mathematical).
• Solid modeling design skills (i.e., NX Siemens, Team Center Enterprise (TcE), CATIA, Solid Works).
• Ability to demonstrate independent creative thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
• Experience with designing and integrating components into larger systems.
• Experience managing projects (schedule and technical performance).
