Location: Dahlgren, VA (with potential detachment site support at Dam Neck Activity, Wallops Flight Facility, Naval Observatory, Quantico, Norfolk, San Diego)
Contract Type: RFP / Government Contract
Clearance Required: Top Secret / SCI or favorably adjudicated personnel security investigation

Position Overview:
The Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) is seeking a highly skilled Systems Administrator (Unix/Linux) to provide technical and operational IT support in a classified and unclassified environment. The selected candidate will support the full lifecycle of IT operations, including system administration, cybersecurity, endpoint support, IT Service Management (ITSM), information management (IM), and enterprise applications. This role is critical to supporting the Command’s mission of developing and integrating technologically superior naval warfare systems.

Key Responsibilities:
• Administer, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Unix/Linux servers and related operating systems.
• Implement and monitor standards for computer operations to ensure compatibility between hardware and software.
• Perform system backups, recovery operations, and software updates as needed.
• Manage network protocols including TCP/IP and security tools such as firewalls, anti-virus, and intrusion detection services.
• Monitor system performance, sizing, and resource allocation; troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues.
• Support IT Service Management (ITSM), endpoint management, enterprise applications, and digital transformation initiatives.
• Provide technical guidance and training to staff on relevant software, applications, and cybersecurity best practices.
• Ensure compliance with Cyber Workforce (CWF) directives and adhere to industry best practices (ITIL®, DESMF, DevSecOps, agile methodologies).
• Collaborate with technical teams to support mission-critical programs across NSWCDD and its detachment sites.

Required Qualifications:
• Minimum of 3 years professional experience in Unix/Linux system administration.
• Experience in system backup and recovery, software management, security management, library management, installation and configuration of hardware/software, and network troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of network protocols, TCP/IP, and major network security tools.
• Familiarity with computing/networking vulnerabilities, attack methods, and detection techniques.
• IAT II level designation
• T5 clearance requirement.

Preferred Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems.

Certifications:
• Must comply with Cyber Workforce (CWF) directives; certifications will be maintained per contract requirements.
