The Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) is a premier R&D and testing organization dedicated to delivering advanced warfare systems for the U.S. Navy. Our mission is to protect the nation and defeat adversaries by developing, integrating, and supporting next-generation naval warfare systems. NSWCDD operates across multiple locations, including Dahlgren, VA; Dam Neck, VA Beach, VA; Wallops, VA; Naval Observatory, DC; Quantico, VA; Norfolk, VA; and San Diego, CA.

Position Overview:
NSWCDD is seeking a highly skilled Senior Forensic Technician/Analyst to provide advanced IT and cybersecurity support across classified and unclassified networks. This role involves forensic analysis, cybersecurity operations, and IT lifecycle support to ensure secure, resilient, and optimized IT environments. The ideal candidate will apply deep technical expertise to identify threats, perform complex investigations, and implement solutions to safeguard Navy systems.

Key Responsibilities:
• Perform mobile and network forensic examinations, develop forensic reports, and provide expert recommendations.
• Conduct packet-level analysis and evaluate system dependencies, configurations, and security posture.
• Develop, test, and implement network infrastructure contingency and recovery plans.
• Identify cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and risks; propose and implement mitigation strategies.
• Manage, install, and maintain security mechanisms to protect classified and unclassified networks from unauthorized access, malware, and breaches.
• Respond to security incidents, investigate violations, and provide remediation recommendations.
• Support IT Service Management (ITSM), endpoint management, enterprise applications, and digital transformation initiatives.
• May supervise or mentor junior analysts.

Required Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering, Mathematics with computer science concentration, or equivalent.
• Minimum of 10 years professional experience in cybersecurity engineering, with at least 6 years performing forensic analysis and IT security operations.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, risk management processes, and computer networking concepts (protocols, network security methodologies).
• Experience with cloud computing models (private, public, hybrid, multi-cloud).
• Experience with development, security, and operations (DevSecOps) practices and agile methodologies.
• GIAC Certified Forensic Examiner (GCFE) required within 90 days of hire.
• Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level III designation.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams and NSWCDD departments.
• Experience applying ITIL®, DoD Enterprise Service Management Framework (DESMF), and PMI methodologies is preferred.

Desired Skills:
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including interpreting technical documentation.
• Experience in IT asset lifecycle management, cybersecurity policy implementation, and enterprise IT operations.
• Ability to deliver solutions that enhance NSWCDD’s digital transformation and IT service maturity.

Security Clearance:
This position requires a Top Secret (T5) clearance. Applicants must have favorably adjudicated personnel security investigations.
