The Boeing Company is seeking highly motivated, Materials & Processes Lab Engineer to join our team located at Kennedy Space Center (KCS) in Florida.
The M&P Lab Engineer will focus on conducting wet chemistry experiments, mechanical testing, precision cleaning verification, and laboratory operations. This role is critical for developing procedures to support material testing, anomaly investigations, creating test methods, writing test procedures, analyzing test results, and writing test reports.
This role is for 1st shift but may require some daily schedule variations (start and end times); occasional alternative shift, overtime work including weekends, and travel may be necessary.
This is a team-based position requiring working with Boeing and NASA personnel, laboratories, and various supporting functions. Problem solving skills are essential and the individual must be able to communicate clearly in both verbal and written form to customers and management.

Position Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Create and refine test methods, write detailed test procedures, and analyze test results
- Handle, prepare, and test metallic and non-metallic materials according to industry and program-specific standards
- Collect, handle, and process flight hardware commodity samples in a production environment
- Operate lab equipment including microscopes, hardness testers, tensile testers, titrators, spectrometers, and ovens
- Perform wet chemistry procedures and other analytical techniques to evaluate coatings, adhesives, and contaminants
- Record test results, maintain detailed lab notebooks, and prepare technical data reports
- Conducts and recommends analysis to determine reasons for failures of materials, parts and processes
- Maintain safety protocols and ensure compliance with NASA and Boeing standards
- Coordinate with engineering and quality groups to provide project support and ensure compliance with quality standards
- Act as a Designated Inspector for laboratory operations and procedures, approving delegated inspections as necessary
- Communicate verbally and/or written with technicians, senior leadership, and customers
- Compile comprehensive test reports and present findings to leadership
- Ensure laboratory facility and equipment compliance, coordinate equipment calibration and maintenance
- Manage lab assets and coordinate requests for laboratory equipment, ensuring compliance with budget constraints
- Self-motivated individual with the ability to work independently but also willing to work and learn from others
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- This role may require occasional overtime work including weekends, and occasional travel may be necessary
