The Screen-out Element for this position is: I have the ability to perform common tasks including: 1) Utilizing knowledge and skill in the basic elements of the welding trade (Heliarc Welding); 2) Using fixtures and jigs to hold and align work for welding; 3) Following details of oral and written instructions and blueprints, sketches and work orders; and 4) Setting up and using electric resistance welding machines

The position often requires irregular hours.
Tasks will be performed standing, sitting and walking. At times, pulling, pushing, stooping and reaching are required with prolonged kneeling, bending, and squatting for in excess of 6 hours.
The environment is reasonably free of recognized hazards, however, there is the possibility of exposure to cuts, electrical shock, strains, broken bones and contact with industrial materials such as cleaning chemicals, solvents, oils and greases.

Help
- You will weld repetitive items such as engine and aircraft parts.
- You will select proper size and type of electrodes or welding rods for type of weld.
- You will operate electric resistance welding machines, setting proper heat range, etc.
- You will observe safety measures and takes precaution against fire.
- You will be required to exercise care to avoid excessive warping.
- You will weld a variety of metal thicknesses.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Physical exertion requires moderate lifting and carrying of objects up to 40 pounds.
- Hearing protection must be worn for noise levels of 85 DBA and double protection is required for levels over 105 DBA.
- This position requires corrected vision as eye strain may occur from extensive reading; near vision correctable at 13" to 16", far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and 20/40 in the other.
- Must be able to distinguish colors.
- This position usually works at ground level and may require climbing up to heights of 20 feet.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
