NOTE: This is a developmental position. Management is selecting this position at the GS-07 or GS-08 grade levels. If selected at the GS-07 grade level the incumbent maybe non-competitively be promoted to the target grade level GS-08.
GS-07 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing one or more of following: (1) examining financial records to resolve accounting transaction issues; and (2) examining accounting documentation for accuracy to ensure compliance with legal regulations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS- 06 or above.
GS-08 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing two or more of the following: (1) examining financial records to resolve accounting transaction issues; and (2) examining accounting documentation for accuracy to ensure compliance with legal regulations; and (3) preparing recurring and non-recurring budget reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-07 or above.
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

- Responsible for technical support of accounting, budget, and other related financial management work.
- Review, evaluate, and verify range of accounting transactions to determine the adequacy of the system and resolve accounting transaction problems.
- Examine accounts or resolve difficult reconciliations requiring an analysis of adjustments and corrective entries in the account.
- Review and determine pay, payroll records maintenance and completion of reports pertaining to civilian employees of the Federal Government.
- Make collections not related to pay and leave, maintaining retirement records, or processing health benefit forms.
- Examine, balance, compute, and extract data from records to prepare reports.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
- THIS IS A FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT Level 1 Certified position. Incumbent of this position is required to comply with all Department of Defense requirements of this certification program within two years of employment.
