Senior Linux DevOps Engineer
Location: Remote - supporting USAF ERP Common Services

Blue Rose Consulting Group, Inc. (Blue Rose) is seeking a Senior Linux DevOps Engineer to support a U.S. Air Force Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Common Services program. In this role, you will build, automate, and secure Linux-based environments that underpin mission-critical ERP capabilities for Air Force stakeholders.

You'll work across Linux administration, CI/CD, automation, and secure configuration management to ensure highly reliable, auditable, and compliant operations in a defense environment.

What You'll Do
As a Senior Linux DevOps Engineer, you will:

  • Administer, harden, and troubleshoot Linux systems in an enterprise, secure environment
  • Implement and maintain logging, auditing, and monitoring for Linux-based services
  • Automate Linux and application workflows using Jenkins, Ansible Core, and GitLab CI/CD
  • Develop and maintain scripts (Python, bash, zsh, ksh, csh) to streamline Linux administration and operational tasks
  • Manually investigate, isolate, and resolve complex Linux issues across multiple environments
  • Perform Linux patching using DNF and YUM to maintain security and compliance baselines
  • Modify and enhance existing software and automation to correct issues, support new hardware, and improve performance
  • Analyze user needs and system requirements to assess feasibility within time and cost constraints
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design system architectures, interfaces, and performance requirements
  • Store, retrieve, and manipulate system data to analyze capabilities, performance, and capacity needs
  • Support configuration management practices and documentation for Linux platforms and DevOps toolchains
  • Work in an OCI (or similar cloud/virtualized) environment on virtual images and infrastructure services

Schedule & Shift Details

  • Full-time (40 hours/week)
  • Remote work; collaboration aligned to U.S. business hours
  • Occasional off-hours support may be required for maintenance windows and critical incident response

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Active Secret clearance required
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience
  • Approximately 7-10 years of hands-on experience with Linux administration in an enterprise, secure environment
  • Approximately 7-10 years of experience with:

    • Jenkins and CI/CD practices
    • Ansible Core (or equivalent automation)
    • GitLab CI/CD or similar pipelines
    • Python and shell scripting (bash, zsh, ksh, csh)
  • Demonstrated experience with:

    • Linux patch management using DNF and YUM
    • Implementing and troubleshooting Linux in large-scale environments
    • Logging, auditing, and monitoring on Linux platforms
    • Configuration management for Linux-based infrastructures
  • Current CompTIA Security+ certification (and equivalent DoD 8570 baseline certification such as CISSP, CCNA, CAP, CASP+ CE, CCISO, CND, CSSLP, CySA+, GSLC, or SSCP)

Desired Skills

  • 3+ years' experience implementing and troubleshooting Linux in an enterprise environment
  • Strong experience with CI/CD platforms such as Ansible Core, Jenkins, and GitLab CI/CD
  • Strong knowledge of DNS/networking concepts and hands-on experience with packet capture and network debugging
  • Experience working in secure government or DoD environments
  • Experience working in an OCI or similar cloud/virtualized environment on virtual images
  • Strong configuration management knowledge and experience across Linux estates
  • Proven ability to provide accurate and realistic effort estimates, and to deliver against commitments
  • Ability to work productively in a distributed team and contribute as a positive, collaborative team member
  • Excellent verbal, written, organizational, and documentation skills
