Torch Technologies is seeking a cUAS Interceptor Engineer to join a team supporting Product Manager Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems (C-UAS) within PEO Missiles and Space (PEO MS). his role provides technical support to the C-UAS Chief Engineer and the C-UAS Interceptor Product Manager, serving as a Systems Engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME) responsible for technical leadership across weapon system design, development, acquisition, integration, fielding, and sustainment.
The candidate will leverage Digital Engineering (DE) tools to manage cost, schedule, and performance for assigned engineering activities, while providing technical guidance to government and contractor systems engineers within PM C-UAS. The position requires cross-organizational collaboration to develop and manage System of Systems (SoS) engineering requirements, integrated master schedules, strategic roadmaps, and milestone documentation supporting contracting and acquisition strategies.

As a cUAS Interceptor Engineer your duties will include the following, but are not limited to:
- Serve as the subject matter expert for interceptor technologies within C-UAS systems, providing technical leadership on design, integration, analysis, and performance assessment.
- Evaluate interceptor concepts, including kinetic, non-kinetic, air-based, and ground-based solutions, and assess their suitability against emerging UAS threats.
- Lead systems engineering activities, including requirements development, interface definition, risk analysis, and verification/validation planning.
- Collaborate with radar, EO/IR, RF detection, GNC, and command-and-control teams to ensure seamless handoff between detection/tracking sensors and interceptor guidance systems.
- Conduct modeling, simulation, and performance analysis to assess interceptor flight dynamics, engagement timelines, and probability of success in various scenarios.
- Support hardware-in-the-loop testing, subsystem integration, and field demonstrations of interceptor systems.
- Analyze test results, generate technical reports, and provide recommendations for design improvements and capability enhancements.
- Monitor trends in UAS threats and counter-UAS technologies, advising stakeholders on strategic capability development.
- Participate in design reviews, technical interchange meetings, and working groups with government, industry, and research partners.
- Ensure compliance with safety, operational, environmental, and regulatory requirements across the interceptor lifecycle.
Required Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in interceptor systems, missile systems, guided munitions, UAV interception, or related domains.
- Active Secret Security Clearance is it required to start.
- Strong understanding of guidance, navigation, and control (GNC), flight dynamics, or threat engagement analysis.
- Demonstrated experience with modeling and simulation tools used for performance assessment.
- Experience with system-of-systems integration, particularly in multi-sensor environments.
- Ability to interpret system requirements, develop technical documentation, and communicate complex concepts to diverse audiences.
- Experience supporting developmental testing, field trials, or live demonstrations.
- Systems thinking and strong analytical judgment
- Technical leadership and cross-functional collaboration
- Clear communication and technical writing skills
- Problem-solving in complex, ambiguous operational environments
- Ability to balance performance, risk, safety, and mission constraints
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree or higher in an engineering discipline.
- Experience with C-UAS systems, small UAS threat profiles, or layered defense architectures.
- Background with embedded systems, autopilot algorithms, or seeker/guidance technologies (at an unclassified, conceptual level).
- Familiarity with DoD acquisition, military standards, or defense systems engineering processes.
- Experience working with interdisciplinary teams across government, industry, and research sectors.
