Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Quality Engineer to join our team in Mascoutah, IL!

As an individual contributor, you will set and achieve objectives within your area of responsibility, leveraging Quality policies, practices, and procedures to influence process and planning decisions. Your role will ensure that the quality of products and processes complies with internal and customer standards and is continuously improving. This position is located in Mascoutah, IL and will require additional travel and time spent in Berkeley, MO.

This position requires a Bachelor's degree in one of the following relevant fields of study:
  • Engineering
  • Computer Science
  • Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology)
  • Mathematics
  • Physics
  • Chemistry


Position Responsibilities:
  • Develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality evaluation, control systems and protocols for materials being processed into partially finished or finished products.
  • Works with various stakeholders such as production engineering, design engineering, material/process engineering, and manufacturing operations to devise inspection and control plans, methods and equipment to assure conformity of product.
  • Collaborates internally to ensure quality standards are in effect.
  • Assists in implementing quality initiative strategies and drives their implementation.
  • Performs escape/containment management procedures, root cause analysis, and recommends corrective action for problems for internally produced products & processes.
  • Recommends product engineering changes to satisfy quality issues raised by customers.
  • Responsible for both Program and Product Quality Engineering tasks.
  • Conducts/lead thorough investigations into issues in areas of responsibility.
  • Be a promoter and have full understanding of the BPSM tool (RCCA) that enables you to coach others in the tool application and use.
  • Present summary of performance as well as senior management summaries, or when required full reporting, on different forums, including and not limited to: CAPA, manufacturing tier meetings, and Management and Business Reviews.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives/projects as required.
  • Reviews procedures and metrics that impact quality and make recommendations to improve compliance with internal standards


This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An Interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study
  • 1+ years of experience in Quality Management Systems (QMS)
  • 1+ years of experience with quality Inspection and/or auditing
  • 1+ years of experience with root cause analysis and corrective action (RCCA) methods


Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Previous experience working in the aerospace industry
  • Experience using computer applications, with a working knowledge of software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.
  • Knowledge of / experience in a Quality facing role
  • Experience in a multi-responsibility organization.
  • Experience with advanced quality and PPAP tools/processes
  • Experience reading and interpretating blueprints, diagrams, and/or technical instructions.


Travel:

This position may require up to 50% travel domestically to Berkeley, MO
