This announcement uses the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) Science and Technology Reinvention Laboratory (STRL) Direct Hire Authority for STRL Mission Support to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
You will serve as a TECHNICIAN in the Research & Engineering Dept (E), in various Branches (E41/E42/E44) of Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head Division located in Indian Head, MD.
The salary range shown above represents all of the positions within the band, including high grade positions. This is not a high grade position; therefore, the salary may be limited to a GS-13 Step 10 (currently $156,755).
This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The NT-04 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-11 through GS-12; the NT-05 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-13 and GS-14.
Certain incentives (such as Recruitment, Relocation or Student Loan Repayment) may be authorized to eligible selectees.
A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee. A relocation incentive may be authorized.

Help
- You will execute system safety and environmental, safety, and occupation health (ESOH) programs.
- You will assess and document risk by severity and probability level of potential mishaps for hazards across all system modes and defined standards to obtain acceptance of risk by program management.
- You will collaborate with weapon design teams, senior managers, and decision makers to identify, evaluate, and resolve safety concerns related to weapon systems within a system safety program.
- You will perform analyses of system safety and ESOH documentation in support of program acquisition milestones, to document risk by severity and probability level of potential mishaps for hazards across various Department of War weapons.
- You will develop safety data packages for weapons systems and weapon delivery systems to support review by independent safety review authorities.
