Kubernetes Architect

Program Description: We are seeking a Microservices/Kubernetes Architect that has experience with Cloud Computing to support a submarine sonar system called ARCI (Acoustic Rapid Commercial Off-the-shelf Insertion), which uses commercial computer equipment installed in open architecture. ARCI has been through four phases of upgrades since the late ’90s, and the innovative system has now been installed on the entire U.S. sub fleet.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
Perform software development tasks supporting Navy programs
Utilize experience and knowledge of coding in Java/C++ on a Linux Operating System
Develop, integrate, and troubleshoot software components and services within a Linux/Unix environment, ensuring stability and performance of system-level functionality.
Write and maintain software code in C, C++, Java, or Python, contributing to new feature development and resolving technical issues across the software stack.
Create and manage automation scripts using Bash or Python to streamline system operations, deployments, and monitoring processes.
Design, deploy, and maintain containerized applications using Kubernetes (K8s/K3s), Podman, or similar container orchestration tools, ensuring efficient scaling and resilience.
Implement and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or similar, enabling repeatable and automated infrastructure provisioning and configuration.
Collaborate with DevOps and software engineering teams to integrate CI/CD pipelines and enhance development workflows.
Conduct regular performance tuning, system updates, and patching to maintain operational efficiency and security.
Document procedures, configurations, and architecture to support knowledge sharing and operational continuity.
Monitor and troubleshoot system and application issues, identifying root causes and implementing long-term fixes.
Participate in code reviews, stand-up meetings, and agile planning sessions to contribute to project goals and timelines.
