SAIC is seeking a highly motivated Chemist to support the Specialized Munitions Division at Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane, Indiana.

Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct ordnance testing and evaluation with a focus on identifying failure points and ensuring overall system integrity and safety.
- Utilize gas chromatography (GC), ion chromatography (IC), high-pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC), and Fourier Transform infrared (FT-IR) techniques to analyze chemical samples.
- Adhere to and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure accuracy and efficiency in all laboratory tasks.
- Accurately document and report test results, maintaining detailed records of all analyses conducted.
- Collaborate with other professionals to solve complex problems and contribute to the continuous improvement of safety and evaluation protocols.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Chemistry and zero years of experience.
- Experience with analytical chemical analysis and chromatography techniques.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are essential for reporting and documentation.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively, ensuring minimal disruption to the workflow.
- Must be proficient with computers and have experience with Microsoft suite of software tools (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams).
- Ability to meet physical health, personal responsibility, and safety requirements to obtain and maintain an explosive certification. SAIC will sponsor the certification process
- Interim clearance required with the ability to obtain a DoD secret clearance. SAIC will sponsor the clearance process.
- Candidate must be a US Citizenship.
Desired Experience
- Previous experience in energetics.
- Knowledge of Explosives or Ordnance System testing.
- DoD Test and Evaluation requirements and sustainment operations standard operating procedures.
- Chemical Laboratory experience with a focus on professional chemistry
