Apex Systems has an Immediate Need for a (25% Remote) Software System Engineer / Application Packager in Norfolk, VA !! This will be an Est. "6 Month Contract to Permanent Hire" opportunity, supporting one of our Largest DoD / Government Clients on the East Coast & Nationwide! Please See Below for all Position Details & How To Apply.
- Job Title: Software System Engineer / Application Packager
- Location: Norfolk, VA / (First Month Fully On-Site then Remote Flex Negotiated with Client)
- Contract Layout: Est. "6 Month Contract to Permanent Hire"
- Contract Rate: $59.00 - $66.00 / Hourly on W2
- Starting Salary at Permanent Conversion: $130,000 - $140,000 & Full Benefits
*** REQUIREMENTS ***
- Secret or Top Secret Security Clearance (Eligible)
- Software Packaging (MECM/SCCM, or Similar) knowledge and STIGs
- Experience coding/scripting (knows software dev but also can perform scripting in Python, VMware, shell-script, JavaScript, C++, OOP, etc.). Currently Using AutoIT for their tooling but can teach (Have a 2-week course)
Job Description
- 60% on the packaging side (take the STIG and package it in the platform that can be used by the NTCSS community) but in order to achieve that objective they need to be able to leverage the related technologies like AutoIT and validation testing (test plan, test case, etc.)
- They are taking things through the full lifecycle (testing, networking, etc.). Small scale so not on enterprise level. Handed off for deployment (back to CM shop)
- Focus is on Software packaging (Windows OS and STIGs (security update & deployment knowledge)
OOP/Programming is enough to be dangerous but don’t have to be exact or super in depth programmer but fundamentals required and able to pick up quickly (legacy coding not generally modern)
- Software Packaging knowledge and STIGs
- VMWare, VCMs, Hyper-V or Similar
- Scripting knowledge – python or shell or other type of scripting
- Using AutoIT for their tooling but can teach (Have a 2-week course)
- STIG validation and basics around testing (doing classic SQT testing – devising test case and somewhat repetitive to review, record results, state it meets requirements)
- Someone who can learn fast on the job
- Using JIRA (more important) and SVN
- Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager will be used in modern environment as well
- Experience working in a network – hooking up to cisco switch and making sure it’s all ready (establishing operating environment) – need skills to do that themselves (route/switch) not just pass off
