Overview
The Machinery Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical systems, machinery, and auxiliary components aboard the Client's vessel and its supporting range systems. This position ensures the operational integrity and reliability of propulsion, hydraulic, pneumatic, and power transmission systems through preventative and corrective maintenance. The mechanic performs repairs and alignment on pumps, valves, compressors, winches, cranes, and other mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with the Client's standards.

The Machinery Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical systems, machinery, and auxiliary components aboard the Client's vessel and its supporting range systems. This position ensures the operational integrity and reliability of propulsion, hydraulic, pneumatic, and power transmission systems through preventative and corrective maintenance. The mechanic performs repairs and alignment on pumps, valves, compressors, winches, cranes, and other mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with the Client's standards.

Responsibilities
- The Machinery Maintenance Mechanic performs preventative and corrective maintenance, alignment, and repair of mechanical and auxiliary systems aboard the client's vessel to ensure optimal operation, reliability, and compliance with the client's standards.
- Inspect and maintain propulsion, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with technical manuals and performance specifications.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and mechanical repairs on engines, pumps, compressors, valves, gearboxes, and hydraulic systems.
- Align rotating equipment, shafts, and couplings using precision tools and alignment instruments.
- Diagnose mechanical faults through vibration analysis, oil sampling, and temperature monitoring.
- Replace or rebuild mechanical components such as bearings, seals, gaskets, and valves to restore operational performance.
- Operate hand and power tools, machining, and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively.
- Document all work performed in the Maintenance Summary Log (MSL) and ensure updates to configuration records.
- Support maintenance of diesel, fuel, and power generation systems as directed by the On-Site Supervisor.
- Assist with loadouts, vessel readiness checks, and at-sea operational support per TPOC-approved checklists
- Participate in required safety training and emergency drills, including firefighting, flooding control, and abandon-ship exercises
- Ensure adherence to LOTO, HAZMAT, and OSHA 1915 requirements for shipyard and vessel environments.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- U.S. Coast Guard-Approved Basic Firefighting Course (or refresher within the past five years).
- U.S. Coast Guard-Approved Able Bodied Seaman Course (may be completed prior to or within 45 days of task order award).
- USCG Medical Certificate (CG-719K) with Food Handler Certification attested by a licensed medical practitioner per OPNAVINST 4061.4A.
- Minimum 3-5 years of mechanical maintenance experience in shipboard, industrial, or military environments.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair diesel, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Experience performing equipment alignments and preventive maintenance on marine systems.
- Working knowledge of NAVSEA technical manuals, drawings, and configuration documentation.
- Experience documenting maintenance by formal logs and quality control standards.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a multi-disciplinary crew in both in-port and at-sea conditions.
- Secret Clearance Required.
- Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.

- Ability to use diagnostic tools, oscilloscopes, multimeters, and alignment instruments.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and maintenance documentation.
- Strong technical writing and data documentation skills for CDRL and maintenance reporting.
- Effective teamwork, leadership, and communication skills for coordination across functional areas.
- Ability to perform technical work independently, solving complex mechanical or electrical issues in real time.
- Ability to analyze and document system performance data to support engineering recommendations.
- Ability to work safely in confined spaces and at-sea environments during extended missions.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing mission priorities and operational conditions.
- Ability to apply sound judgment under operational stress while ensuring compliance with all safety and quality procedures.
Desired Qualifications:
- Completion of a trade or technical school program in mechanical maintenance, marine systems, or industrial technology.
- Coursework in hydraulic systems, mechanical alignment, or marine machinery.
