Overview
The Engineering Technician III provides advanced technical support for the maintenance, testing, and operation of systems aboard the client's vessel and related range support equipment. This position assists senior engineers and technicians with the installation, troubleshooting, calibration, and repair of mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems in compliance with the client's standards. The technician performs preventive and corrective maintenance, operates test equipment, and helps ensure systems remain safe, functional, and ready to support range missions.

This position assists senior engineers and technicians with the installation, troubleshooting, calibration, and repair of mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems in compliance with the client's standards. The technician performs preventive and corrective maintenance, operates test equipment, and helps ensure systems remain safe, functional, and ready to support range missions.

Responsibilities
- The Engineering Technician III performs technical engineering support tasks involving system operation, troubleshooting, testing, and maintenance to sustain the readiness and functionality of vessel and range systems in compliance with Client's requirements.
- Perform installation, setup, operation, and testing of mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems aboard the vessel.
- Inspect and maintain engineering systems including power generation, propulsion, sensors, and auxiliary equipment.
- Conduct diagnostics, measurements, and data collection to identify performance issues and verify system alignment with specifications.
- Calibrate sensors, meters, and test instruments in accordance with approved procedures and technical manuals.
- Assist in the development and execution of Preventive Maintenance Plans (PMP) and updates to the Maintenance Summary Log (MSL).
- Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to support maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting tasks.
- Provide engineering support for repairs, modifications, and upgrades to mechanical and electrical systems.
- Document test results, system performance data, and maintenance actions in accordance with contract data deliverables.
- Support range operations by configuring systems for test readiness and participating in at-sea deployment preparations.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and hazardous energy controls in all work areas.
- Participate in shipboard safety and emergency drills, including firefighting and damage control exercises
- Coordinate with the On-Site Supervisor, Government Technical Point of Contact (TPOC), and other stakeholders for task assignments and progress updates.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Engineering Technology, Marine Engineering, Electronics, or related technical field required.
- Equivalent combination of education and hands-on Navy or shipboard technical training accepted (e.g., Navy "C" school graduate).
- U.S. Coast Guard-Approved Basic Firefighting Course (or refresher within the past five years).
- U.S. Coast Guard-Approved Able Bodied Seaman Course (may be completed prior to or within 45 days of task order award).
- USCG Medical Certificate (CG-719K) with Food Handler Certification (Section II) per OPNAVINST 4061.4A.
- Minimum 5-7 years of technical experience supporting shipboard, naval, or range engineering operations.
- Proven expertise in diagnostics, testing, and calibration of mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
- Experience maintaining and troubleshooting marine HM&E systems, including power generation, propulsion, and auxiliary subsystems.
- Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, and apply engineering drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Experience with preventive maintenance programs, system configuration management, and CDRL reporting.
- Familiarity with ABS-classed vessel systems and USCG safety regulations.
- Experience supporting both in-port and at-sea operations, including participation in drills and maintenance readiness checks.
- Secret Clearance Required.
- Strong knowledge of engineering principles related to marine mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
- Knowledge of test instrumentation, calibration methods, and data analysis for performance verification.
- Familiarity with preventive and corrective maintenance practices and Navy reporting requirements.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.

- Skilled in troubleshooting and testing complex systems under minimal supervision.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools, oscilloscopes, multimeters, and alignment instruments.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and maintenance documentation.
- Strong technical writing and data documentation skills for CDRL and maintenance reporting.
- Effective teamwork, leadership, and communication skills for coordination across functional areas.
- Ability to perform technical work independently, solving complex mechanical or electrical issues in real time.
- Ability to analyze and document system performance data to support engineering recommendations.
- Ability to work safely in confined spaces and at-sea environments during extended missions.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing mission priorities and operational conditions.
- Ability to apply sound judgment under operational stress while ensuring compliance with all safety and quality procedures.
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Coursework in systems testing, marine systems maintenance, or technical documentation desirable.
