Senior Systems Engineer

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking an Senior Systems Engineer to support a large-scale defense contract located in Springfield, VA through 100% on site presence . The Senior Systems Engineer will implement, troubleshoot, and maintain AWS cloud systems, manage Linux/Windows environments, perform system monitoring, and integrate new technologies to ensure reliability and security for a large defense contract.

Responsibilities of the Senior Systems Engineer include:

• Implement, troubleshoot, and maintain AWS cloud systems (including C2S environment) and support NGA infrastructure
• Install and configure operating systems and application software on Linux and Windows platforms
• Monitor and report system health using tools like Elasticsearch Kibana and AWS CloudWatch
• Manage IAM roles, policies, and access controls for AWS resources and S3 buckets
• Integrate new technologies and migrate systems to improve reliability, scalability, and security
• Collaborate across teams and provide technical support for cloud infrastructure requests, including scripting and automation tasks

Qualifications of the Senior Systems Engineer include:

• 5+ years of experience in systems administration (Linux and Windows) and cloud environments
• AWS expertise, including C2S suite, IAM roles/policies, EC2, S3, CloudFormation, and monitoring tools (CloudWatch, Kibana)
• Scripting and automation skills (Python, Ansible, Terraform preferred)
• Experience with container platforms (EKS/ECS) and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab)
• Active TS/SCI clearance (with ability to obtain CI polygraph)
• Security compliance knowledge and ability to obtain Security+ (IAT II) within 6 months

Compensation for the Senior Systems Engineer includes:

• Salary Range: $125,000-145,000 **depending on experience**
