We are looking for you to join our team as an Embedded Software Engineering Manager 1 based out of Linthicum, MD.
This position is in the Engineering and Sciences Organization supporting the Scaled Onboard Electronic Attack program as a software manager. The SOEA program is a rapid system development program intended to provide the US Navy with a comprehensive and competitive electronic attack self-defense capability. Our team provides technical skills, technologies, and processes to affordably develop, design, produce and sustain products across the defense industry while providing a decisive advantage to our customers.
As Software Manager 1 you are responsible for delivering program technical content through your own direct contribution as well as through your team. This includes coordinating the people and resources effectively across teams and engineering disciplines to deliver software solutions. Additionally, you are responsible for managing people performance, providing excellent staff resources to programs, and career development of employees. Expected duties include:

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree with 5 years of experience, master's degree with 3 years of experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or related technical fields; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Primary Level Salary Range: $124,000.00 - $186,000.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

- Drive sustainable continuous improvement, using Agile methods, data-driven decisions, and innovative problem solving
- Generate accurate and timely engineering labor estimates, such as provided in Agile ceremonies
- Guide the team in compliance with the Internal Software Development Plan (iSDP) and Agile principals
- Coordinate with other disciplines when needed, such as Systems, Hardware, Security, or IT
- Engage with business leaders and customers to understand and drive business execution
- Candidates must have strong communication and people leadership skills
- Set, track, and measure employee performance expectations
- Guide employees regarding career development
- Provide technical and business coaching and mentoring

- Strong understanding of Agile software development practices
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with C, Python, and Bash languages
- Experience with containerization technologies and Wind River SIMICS
- Experience as a Development Team Leader or Scrum Master
- Experience as a Control Account Manager (CAM) and using an Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
- Management of budget for technical activities
- Experience generating estimates for new work
- Prior software functional management experience (executing performance appraisals, staffing allocations, software process leadership, and career goals development)
