Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal/Sr. Principal Systems Modeling Simulation Engineer. This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel program. The role may be filled at either level, based upon candidate experience.

Primary Level Salary Range: $95,300.00 - $142,900.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $118,600.00 - $178,000.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal/Sr. Principal Systems Modeling Simulation Engineer. This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel program. The role may be filled at either level, based upon candidate experience.
What You'll Get To Do:
As part of the AVE Aero/Fluids team within the AVE Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis (MS&A) IPT you will be responsible for the following:
- Generate and modify aerodynamics database models for integration into dynamics and controls simulations
- Perform Computational Fluid Dynamics simulations as well as hand calculations to predict performance in a wide variety of flight regimes and physics
- Create technical documentation related to verification and validation, peer reviews, customer presentation, and work planning
- Be involved in the planning, execution, and data analysis of physical testing
- Write code for the automation of tasks and simulation, data analysis, and modeling
Position responsibilities include:
- Apply extensive aero/fluids knowledge, skills and ability in pursuit of meeting contractual requirements. Strong emphasis on the development of tools, processes, and resources to translate raw aero/fluids data into models, databases, simulations (e.g. 3/6 DOF), etc
- Ensure the quality of Aero/Fluids team products meets technical rigor and IPT/deliverable standards
- Develop technical solutions to complex aero/fluids problems
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and technical guidance to team members
- Collaborate closely with other relevant disciplines/IPTs, e.g. Flight Analysis, Structures, Propulsion, Integration and test, etc
- Communicate effectively and clearly; present technical approaches and findings to customers, executive management, and other program stakeholders

You'll Bring These Qualifications:
- Principal : 5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 1 Years with PhD.
- Sr Principal : 8 Years with Bachelors in Science; 6 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD.
- Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
- Strong sense of urgency and work ethic in ensuring engineering meets customer and program expectations in a timely and efficient manner
- 1 years of experience developing aerodynamic models, tools, databases using Matlab, Python, C++ or similar for integration into 3/6DOF simulations
- 1 year experience with analytical aerodynamic design tools, e.g. Missile DATCOM or similar
- 2 years of experience with commercial CFD codes such as CFD++, StarCCM+, or ANSYS Fluent
- Demonstrated technical writing experience in both authoring and reviewing formal analysis documentation; strong ability to verbally communicate technical content to senior engineering leadership
These Qualifications Would Be Nice to Have:
- Master's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) or related discipline
- 3+ years of experience developing aerodynamic models, tools, databases using Matlab, Python, C++ for integration into 6DOF simulations
- 3+ years of experience with commercial CFD codes such as CFD++, StarCCM+, or ANSYS Fluent
- Demonstrated experience in making sound decisions in uncertain and difficult situations
- Demonstrated experience working with customers and senior leadership to ensure project success
- Demonstrated experience working with Linux and Windows based HPC's for aero/fluids work
- Involvement with the planning and execution of physical aerodynamics related testing applications such as wind tunnels or flight test validation including scheduling, test matrix and development of test items
- Demonstrated experience leading a technical effort/team through an EMD program in compliance of program requirements
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations, with ability to focus on multiple projects with competing priorities
- Experience in performing in an Agile environment and knowledge/understanding of JIRA
- DoD Secret Clearance (or higher)
