THE WORK
Employee will work in an industrial shipyard
environment performing shipboard installation
tasks in support of Aegis Weapon System
Shipboard Alterations (SA) and Ordnance
Alterations (OA).
- Tasks will be primarily focused on working with copper data and power cables.
- Will be assigned as required with an Alteration
Installation Team (AIT) working 40 or more
hours per week, as required to meet schedule
commitments (overtime).
- In addition, you may lead or mentor others in
planning and execution of installation tasks
including:
- Existing cable rip-out and roll-back (including
testing and cable/connector inspection);
- Power and data cable installation;
- Power and data connector termination;
- Opening, closing and testing Multi-Cable
Transits (MCTs);
- Finalizing installations for space turnover to
ship's force (i.e. cable tagging/banding)
* US Citizenship is required. Qualified candidate must have an active DoD Interim Secret Security Clearance to be considered.

Basic Qualifications:
Ability to complete technical and safety
certification/recertification training, as required.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally
at least 75 percent of the time.
Candidate will be required on an infrequent basis to go underway on units and to frequently work on moored pier-side units. Physical ability to navigate steep stairs and ladders as well as work in confined spaces is a requirement.

- Knowledgeable in Mechanical and Electrical
installation/modification standards and
methodology, including NAVSEA Standard Items

MIL-STD-2042 (Shipboard fiber
certification/cable handling), MIL-STD-1678-1,

- Experience with requirements of current NAVSEA TS 9090-310; Shipyard Competent Person (29 CFR 1915, NFPA 306); ESH 40 CFR

For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
