Description:In this role, you will hold the final mission independent review authority for a crucial new, advanced interceptor to protect the US homeland against long range ballistic missile threats from rogue nations - the Next Generation Interceptor (NGI). We are also working on qualifications of the design, verification through ground and flight testing, and maturation to enable our customer's production decision and fielding and this role is instrumental to ensure robust transition to production. This ties into world events in the news every day and you will see how your work directly benefits our security as a nation.
This role will also engage on any forthcoming elements of the Golden Dome for America - a Manhattan Project scale mission building on a combat-proven foundation in further augmenting US strategic defense to round out the SDS portfolio
The role is innovative as the second Mission Assurance site lead for at the LM Space business, specifically created to manage Program Quality and Mission Success functions together. You will partner with the existing NGI Mission Success lead to be responsive and accountable to program needs.
Mission Success is the successful performance of our products and services, achieved through an ingrained discipline that fosters an unyielding dedication to product integrity from inception to conclusion of every endeavor. This position is the "face" of Mission Assurance for our Customers, Internal executives and across the Enterprise. You will work closely with the Chief Engineers' office, Program Management, and external customer POCs including DCMA on the quality side. Your Program Quality team to ensure reliability and performance across development and production aspects of the portfolio.
You will report to the Strategic and Missile Defense (SMD) Mission Assurance Director, and matrixed to the VP, NGI Programs. It is your ultimate responsibility that we deliver the capabilities that Lockheed Martin Space has committed to the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) with exceptional product quality and using complaint processes.

Responsibilities include:
• Mission Success Leadership - Advocate for MS within the program, providing an independent appeal path and independent risk assessments for mission success issues. Manage the NGI MS Event process, including independent review board (IRB) leadership and presentation of issues and recommendations to LM and customer executive leadership
• NGI Program Quality functional management, responsible for ownership for the Quality Management System on these critical programs. You will need to be a driving force to guide technical decisions for product development, ground and flight test planning, and design maturity milestone reviews.
• Technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) - Provide expertise to the program to anticipate, predict, and prevent potential mission risk issues by resolving them as early in the program life cycle and at the lowest program level possible. Working with Engineering and Operations, develop accurate and actionable processes and metrics to support high-reliability, high-rate production and on-time delivery.
• Enterprise Communication - Communicate systemic issues and best practices across the Enterprise, including addressing all bulletins/GIDEP/lessons learned notifications/advisories and coordinating with internal MS Audit.
• Failure Resolution Cognizance - Review all major anomalies for adequacy of root cause identification, corrective actions, validity of conclusions, and effectiveness of implemented corrective measures
• Potential Reach Across Cognizance - Ensure issues that have the potential of reach across
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor degree or a Masters degree or higher level degree
• Re-entry Body or Missile or Space hardware or software development or integration experience or any similar experiences
• Experience with failure investigations or failure analysis or anything else related
• Ability to drive closure and resolve technical issues/challenges
• Customer orientated by learning and understanding customers' missions, needs, and perspectives
• Currently active Secret Security clearance, with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance
• Willingness to travel
Desired Skills:
• Bachelors or Masters degree in Science or Engineering preferred with 12+ years of related experience
• Experience in strategic missile systems
• Missile Defense mission or MDA-facing experience highly preferred
• Experience across all aspects of the program lifecycle, such as design, development, flight test, and production
• Experience in working with the U.S. Airforce and Navy Strategic Systems Program Offices
• Aptitude for Model Based Engineering, Agile processes, and Digital Transformation
• Demonstrated understanding of risk identification or mitigation
• Demonstrated Speak Up attitude and ability to influence technical leaders and program executives

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $151,200 - $266,570. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
