Job Title: Databricks Solutions Architect
Clearance Required: Public Trust - Federal Client requires US Citizenship
Work Location: Remote, Arlington, VA

We are looking for an experienced Databricks Architect to lead the design and implementation of scalable, high-performance data and analytics platforms using Databricks. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Azure architecture, Python, and modern data engineering practices. This role involves defining best practices, guiding engineering teams, and architecting solutions that transform raw data into valuable insights.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supporting and enhancing multi-cloud and on-premises data DMA platform, ongoing maturation fabric architecture, ongoing maturation of the existing Data Lake platform.
  • Design data ingestion, transformation, and curation pipelines for structured and unstructured data across various sources.
  • Collaborate with business and technical teams to translate data strategy into actionable technical designs.
  • Optimize Databricks clusters, workflows, and jobs for cost-efficiency and performance.
  • Develop and maintain data architecture blueprints, technical standards, and governance frameworks.
  • Define and implement data security, access control, and compliance standards in Databricks environments.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentor data engineers on Databricks best practices, reusable components, and performance tuning.
  • Stay current on Databricks roadmap and new features, ensuring the platform evolves with industry best practices.
  • Drive automation, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code deployment for Databricks using Terraform, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Actions.

Required Qualifications:

Education:
  • BS/BA in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, Computer Engineering, or similar.

Experience/Skills:
  • Federal agency requires US Citizenship
  • 8+ years of experience in data engineering, architecture, or analytics, including 3+ years with Databricks.
  • Key technologies include Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Azure Machine Learning, Azure AI Services (aka collection of Azure cognitive services - including Azure Open AI), Azure Cosmos DB, Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Azure Container Registry, Azure API Management, GitHub Enterprise, Splunk, and Terraform.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate across engineering, analytics, and business teams.
  • Strong understanding of data lakehouse architecture, ETL/ELT frameworks, and distributed data processing.
  • Proficiency in Azure Databricks cloud platform.
  • Experience with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation.
  • Proven ability to design scalable, secure, and cost-optimized data solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Databricks Certified Data Engineer Professional or Databricks Certified Data Architect Associate or equivalent work experience.
  • Background in data modeling and data warehouse design.

Salary and Benefit Information:

The likely salary range for this position is $149,000 - $200,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position and could fall outside of this range.
