The Senior Network Administrator leads the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex network and system infrastructures across multiple security domains, including classified networks. This position ensures the availability, integrity, and security of critical DoD systems and network services in support of the USAF mission.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Lead the design, configuration, and implementation of enterprise-level network and system architectures.
• Administer and maintain advanced networking technologies including routers, switches, firewalls, and SDN (Software-Defined Networking) solutions across multiple environments.
• Configure and enforce network security policies, access control lists (ACLs), and compliance standards in alignment with DoD cybersecurity requirements.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting, system patching, and vulnerability remediation to ensure compliance and operational continuity.
• Oversee backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies for critical network and server infrastructure.
• Manage the integration and optimization of Windows and Linux-based systems, Microsoft Hyper-V, and related virtualization environments.
• Provide expert-level technical guidance and mentorship to Junior and Mid-Level Administrators; lead team development and performance improvement efforts.
• Conduct in-depth research and recommend emerging technologies to enhance system resilience and network efficiency.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, configuration guides, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Support cybersecurity operations through proactive risk assessments, system hardening, and security monitoring.
• Collaborate with DoD and USAF stakeholders to ensure mission-critical networks meet operational readiness and accreditation requirements.
• Contribute to the development and delivery of network security training and awareness programs, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and cyber awareness.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Network Engineering, or related field; 4 additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree.
• 9+ years of total IT experience, including 5+ years of specialized experience as a Network or Systems Administrator in enterprise or DoD environments.
• Deep understanding of network design, implementation, and troubleshooting, including routing, switching, VLANs, VPNs, and firewall management.
• Strong background in Windows and Linux system administration, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, GPO, and related infrastructure services.
• Specialized knowledge in network security, cloud computing, and automation (PowerShell, Ansible, or similar).
• Demonstrated experience with virtualization platforms (Hyper-V, VMware), storage technologies, and backup/recovery systems.
• Certifications required:
o CompTIA Network+ and Security+ (IAT-II compliant)
o Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent vendor-specific certification

• Master’s degree in Network Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field.
• Experience supporting DoD programs or Combatant Commands (e.g., SOUTHCOM, NORTHCOM, CENTCOM, CYBERCOM, etc.).
• Familiarity with military and diplomatic operations, and experience working in J6/G6/S6 or SOC environments.
• Experience leading or conducting cybersecurity risk assessments across distributed networks and commands.
• Certifications such as CISSP, CCIE, ITIL Foundation, or Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Experience with Cisco UCS, SAN/NAS storage, SCVMM, and Microsoft Failover Clustering.
• Proven ability to develop and implement automation solutions to streamline operational processes.

Clearance Requirements:
• Must possess and maintain an active TS/SCI clearance (DCID 6/4 eligibility).
• Clearance investigation close date must be no older than 5 years, 6 months at the time of application.
• Must be willing and able to pass a CI polygraph, if required.

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
• Frequently operates standard office equipment including computers, printers, and telecommunication devices.
