Metrology Technician - Optics

JOB DESCRIPTION :

The Optics Technician is responsible for providing calibration and repair services on equipment in the Optics Measurement area. Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems that typically cannot be solved solely by referencing manufacturer's manuals or similar documents. Requires the ability to use complex test instruments and control equipment.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS, EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION :

Associate's Degree, or related equivalent experience,

Minimum equivalent experience is three (3) years' experience in metrology and repair of TMDE.

Good working knowledge of calibration and maintenance of Optics primary measurements standards.

Possesses the knowledge required to read and understand schematic and wiring drawings.

Thorough understanding of the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025 and USAF T.O. 00-20-14.

Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Must be able to qualify for or have successfully completed a National Agency Check Investigation within the last ten (10) years.

Above average proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word), Windows based operating systems, and general internet navigation and usage required.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES :

Essential/Typical Duties:

• Maintains, repairs, and calibrates Force Test, Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE).
• Performs general maintenance and overhaul procedures; uses TMDE to troubleshoot and repair equipment.

Non-Essential Duties :

• Performs other related duties as assigned.

  The ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movements when calibrating certain TMDE.

  Normally works in an environmentally controlled work area.
