This position will be based in Ashburn, VA
Responsibilities:
Reporting directly to the Senior Manager of Accounting, the Staff Accountant will be involved in wide range of areas. This role will have direct exposure to the Assistant Controller.
• Monthly GL Close
o Monthly journal entries, as a part of close.
o A key part of the GL close team (it is a team of three).
o Monthly balance sheet reconciliations to support management reporting, SEC reporting and audit purposes.
o Drive continuous improvement in the close process to decrease time and improve quality.
o Manage prepaids.
• Tax compliance related work
o Prepare and submit sales and use tax returns, business licenses and personal property tax filings.
o Provide support to the external tax provider for tax provision, annual income tax returns and adjusting entries.
• SOX Controls
o Ensure SOX controls within the financial reporting group function as designed
o Provide support for SOX testing
o Assist in narrative updates
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in accounting and or finance required with 1+ years of experience.
• Strong Excel skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills across multiple levels of an organization.
• Demonstrated attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to collaborate and work in a team environment.
