Role Overview
As an Advanced Systems Administration Specialist, you will serve as a critical interface for technical issues, ensuring systems remain current and secure. This role involves managing server services, performing system analysis, and supporting both physical and virtual environments. You will play a key role in maintaining operational readiness for mission-critical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage functionality, efficiency, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of physical and virtual hardware, including lab environments.
- Perform server administration for multiple operating systems and monitor performance using advanced tools.
- Install and update software, troubleshoot issues, and grant permissions to applications.
- Execute security compliance processes and promote continuous improvement.
- Conduct system analysis and implement upgrades to align with evolving technologies.
- Automate repetitive tasks using scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
- Configure and maintain network interfaces on servers and resolve alerts promptly.
- Support disaster recovery strategies and backup solutions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field plus 5+ years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus 3+ years.
- U.S. citizenship and active DoD Secret clearance at time of hire.
- Strong understanding of Windows, Linux, and UNIX operating systems.
- Proficiency in networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and cybersecurity principles.
- Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
- Skilled in scripting and automation for system administration.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Nagios or SolarWinds.
